1 year growth/progression shots

One of my favorite things to do lately has been to look back at the pictures of corals from when I first got them and see how they've faired over the course of a year. I have a few different Acropora that have seemed to grow quite well (to me anyways) over the last year or so and thought it would be cool to see some other peoples growth as well. So lets see them! Post up your yearly growth shots, good, bad, or ugly.

Millepora I got online, little 1/2" nub. May 23rd, 2014.

May 28th, 2015.

I have a few more to add later when I have access to all my pictures.

Since the late May picture the growth seems to be really exploding on the right and left branches, I can't wait for next May to see what it looks like. Do you have any pieces to show off? I sure love some growth shots, even on the slower growing acros.

It really is! And the red one does an Appearing act lol. I used photoshop to stitch those two photos together, if you have it there are tutorials on the web about how to do it. I have a cell phone like camera mounted to the side of my tank using one of those cell phone windshield mounts that takes automatic pictures so that way the perspective doesn't change.

Progression shots are cool. Here is the first year of my tank from when I started putting in corals.

Just for fun here is 12 months of growth comparison. The first 6 months was kind of rough. I had red bugs, a nippy fish, bad algae, a destructive hitch hiker crab and had to figure our my lights. The last 6 months things have been going well.

Sorry, I have no idea what it is.. It had some name from the vendor like 'Frozen Ivy' but no scientific name..

Thanks! That's one of my favorites, another acro that put up with my learning curve nicely. Too bad the Hawkins I bought almost a year ago hasn't shown the same growth, the structure and blue in it make me think its going to be a beauty once it gets to a similar size as the stag above. It'll be a year in my tank in a few weeks so that will be my next set of pictures but the growth seems mediocre at best.

Thanks. It is a fun little tank. I will be putting up the 15 month pictures in a few weeks. Growth has been quite good the past few months.

Mine is almost at a year. Bought it on September 4 2014

And as of July 22nd it is now two mini colonies

Nice undeadmoto, sure is awesome to see them go from little nubs to nice size colonies. Is that a seriatopora or pocillopora? Either way great growth!
