$10 nemo's at Petco in BG

I called them nemo's and Petco in my subject line, and I called them false percs and deatcho in my comment. The girl I talked to at Petco on Monroe called them nemo's. I'll continue to call it deathco because I have seen way too many dead fish in their tanks. Since my post led to a few more sales for them, I doubt they care about my opinion. As for sponsorship, good luck.

One good point about Petco, I think they've been able to keep a harlequin tusk alive since they opened. Every time I swing by its still there in the bowfront display on the endcap. Either that or they get a new one that's about the same size every time they sell or lose it.

Slander, libel, sponsorship or not... like I said it looks as if a lot of us have been there, shopped there, shop there, whatever... I think the name calling makes us look bad. Personally having visited many LFSs through the years and the times I've been to Petco their stuff isn't a whole lot worse (if at all) than PSP, AA, Jacks (especially the times I've been there), etc... I stopped at the Sweet Feed Co. a month or so ago and their tanks were horrid. What's the difference? Should we call them the Fatal Feed Co.?
Obviously they are big business when it comes to pets and it would be great if they had the most experienced people in the world on staff. I don't believe it's a likely senario unless you patronize only the small specialty guys. The last time I was at Gary's the kids working didn't know _ _ _ _ from shinola either does that make Gary's a bad place to go?
I didn't mean to start an uproar or offend anyone but I think the name calling is better left for the kids...

I don't think I've ever seen that in print before :lolspin:
Good point about the other knowledge of the employees at the other stores.

I have recently began thinking of bring a tape recorder or video camera into these chain stores and doing a 'bad reef advice' sting and putting up the info on a website and or fowarding the bad (or good) response to each companies corprate people, simply to try and get GOOD help at stores, or at least have their policies on advice change.

IT would be fun to see what could come about with that.

Name calling that serves no particular purpose is childish. Name calling that conveys a message is called activism. :) Comparing Gary's to Petco? I dunno. That's a bit of a stretch. At Gary's, at least he knows how to keep healthy animals and he makes sure they stay healthy in his systems. At Petco and similarly challenged stores, no one, from the top down, seems to have a clue.

I certainly didn't compare any of the listed places.... merely stated the day I was at Gary's it seemed like I had 20 some years more experience and knowledge of what I was talking about than the three kids trying to help me combined. I doubt that problem can be fixed... Maybe Gary can keep a local kid around long enough to gain the necessary knowledge but in the minimum wage world of the chain pet stores it will never happen.

Oh sorry. I read this statement and tied it in with the name calling and Petco. It kinda looks like you were relating them all to each other.

Well just to let everyone know the two false percs I purchased at petco yesterday are still doing great. I mixed up some food with garlic and they are tearing into it. I'm not saturating them, but I bet I could.

I got a couple of them too Dave, kinda picked over by the time we were there I bought the spotted hawk they had too, everything looked happy this morning before I left. I'd have loved to have the sohal tang they had too... maybe next tank:cool:

How's the light look?

Light is good. A tad yellow, but not as blue. LOL I may never find exactly what I'm looking for!

Are you feeding yours any garlic? I also did a small FW drip on them and nothing appeared to come out of them so hopefully they are clean.

Big difference between that one and the one I'm still using, same bulb though...

I put a little flake in last night no garlic, I'm sure my wife will take good care of them today though...

FYI: PSP on Airport has a Chevron Tang for $70, and a belly up lion next to it. :( The high school-aged employees were too busy talking about their manager to notice.
