Reefconcept confirmed they have the 1x80W Mark 10 ballasts (they are 2 x 54W ballasts wired in series). I will order through them. Icecap told me that they never heard of the term fast strike. Google gives me nothing as well. I don't really understand the concept either. I suspect the only concern is that the metal contacts and such in the end caps can handle spikes. Who ultimately directed this requirement? Did it come from GHL?

Does Philips make the sockets too? Since you have them, anything interesting to note about them regarding design compared to standard T5 end caps? Icecap doesn't forsee any issues, but they really are confused (as am I) as to what these end caps offer that others do not. I have requests into Philips about the ballasts, but they aren't too quick with their replies... unlike you.
