112L - Iwagumi Reef

Hello,

Here´s my nano tank.
It was a freshwater system that I have had modified to saltwater so the parts were mostly from the old planted tank and from used saltwater material that I had lying around here.
The idea for this tank is to try to keep it simple and clean regarding corals and fish. Everything to the scale of the tank, really.

Setup:

Tank: 70*40*40cm
Lighting: DIY Fixture with 6*18W T8 with electronic ballasts and independent reflectors; 3 Led Moonlight
Circulation: 1 x Vortech Mp10
Dead Rock: 5 Kgs
Substracte: Nature´s Ocean Bio-Active Live Aragonite, enough to make a small SB

Sump: 40*35*35cm
Skimmer: Deltec MCE600
Return Pump: Aquabee Up2000 ( 2000L/h)
Heating: 2 x 100W Jager
Water Reposition RO water through Tunze Osmolator
kH, Ca and Mg: N/A

The tank will be filled with the water from my 300L tank and some corals will also be transferred when the cycle is complete. More pictures to come as the project advances.

André

from the right angle it looks like a heart in the bottom right of your rockwork... nice tank love the scape!

Very cool. Keen to see what you've got planned with regards to the corals (colours, shape and placement)

I hate to keep repeating, but I thought of it before I read the rest of the posts, GREAT AQUASCAPING!!!!

This is going to be a very nice setup!
congrats

I love looking at your 300L and I cant wait to see this one get going! Do you know what kind of corals you will be displaying?

Hello,

Penguin, thanks.

qn5reef, thanks. I thought in gluing the rocks and place some zip ties but then I realized it was too much work and couldn´t give the effect that I wanted so I decided to just pile the rock. The plate was more complicated but it all went well and the overall hardscape is solid.

got2envy, thanks.

boaconchicken, wow, thanks a lot. I must admit I do enjoy working with hardscape materials and build layouts. Sometimes I feel like a kid in a sand box, if you know what I mean. ;)

Nate, thanks, Indeed, the cave is in the shape of a heart. The rock had already that form. I wonder if the animals that will take that cave will feel the love vibe in the walls...

MHannon, the camera is a Canon 400D with 18-55mm lens.

der_wille_zur_macht, thanks a lot. It´s true, planted tanks do give great background when it comes to Aquascaping. When I set up a tank, it always comes to my mind that if the layout is well done from the begining, It´s half the way to success. :D

CurvBall, thanks. I am thinking in transferring some Zoanthus and LPS from the 300L to this one and start the building from there. I know that the plate has to have some tall corals ( probably some red sps corals to evidence the focal point), the ending of the rocks will have some zoanthus and the rest will come naturally I think.

Dave, I have seen your tank and it is beautiful. Sometimes, it isn´t just the rocks but the open space and clean feeling that sand gives you. I bet that if you´de just cleaned the sand more often and placed the corals that are there in more strategic places, your rock work and corals would definitely give you a better impression. But, that´s just my two cents about it.

Bri Guy, thanks. :)

munsils, thanks. Fingers crossed on that. :)

vegita, thanks. Yeah, I have an idea about corals. Mostly will be softies ( Zoanthus and Riccordeas) and LPS ( Acans, Euphyllias, Caulastreas, etc) and the upper rock will have two or three species of SPS. Don´t know if the lighting will be an issue for these corals though.

Two more:

The real iwagumi style has to consist of odd number of rocks, how many do you have in there?
