After looking over many posts, I decided to change the original pump with a maxi jet 900. I also installed the flo rotating defelector. There is a vast improvement in the clarity of the tank. All the little corals look happy. Thank you to all for sharing so much information in the pursuit of this wonderful passion.

Ive also added a second fan in the hood

bckane. I too added a fan. Of course I bought it at Walmart for $7.00. I could never do any wiring of any kind. Knowing my luck...I'd start a fire. The fan is one of those little mini turbine looking fans made by Lakewood...it sits right on top of the lid. Has 3 rubber feet to hold it in place. I have it angled facing down into the row of vents. Temp. seems to not get past 80 degrees in the day with lights on.
