SGrim80 thanks for checking in. Your post reminded me that my tank recently passed its 7 year anniversary. Things are pretty much on cruise control now. I gave up trying to be a hard core sps keeper. Removed the calcium reactor and decided having a mixed reef is easier and more fun (for me at least). Here is a crappy iphone pic taken tonight. As you can see, RBTA's love my tank. I started with 1 and probably have over 30 in there now. My maroon striped clown that was the first fish in this tank is still king of the tank. He has a mate and they frequently lay eggs. My corals seem happy, fish are healthy and tank is pleasing to my eyes. That's what this hobby is all about right?

Thanks for this and the stand build thread!! Glad you were able to transition your tank to something you were able to maintain and be proud of!!

Well my tank has now hit the 8 year mark and I believe this is going to be the end. I believe I'm going to tear it down and sell out. I don't have the time or desire to continue the maintenance it needs and requires.

Selling the livestock where I live might be a challenge so it could be a long process. More details to come once I decide for sure.

small update. I spent one weekend cleaning the tank, performing a water change and scraping the back glass. I also replaced the bulbs with Hamilton 14k. The tank is looking better than it has in a while.

Tank looks nice. Applaud you for keeping it going for this length of time. I have seen a lot of reefers come and go in the short few years I've been around RC.

Nice work.

Sad to say the tank is going to fall a few days short of making it 9 years. Saltwater went in on July 23, 2006. The tank will be shut down July 13, 2015 as I have sold all of the livestock to a local retailer. You know what that means.....there will be a really nice tank, stand and hood for sale very soon. If interested, email or text me. r.lynn@att.net or 573-837-6224. I'm not on RC very often anymore.

It's been fun.

Sorry to hear you are out Marino, I've followed you since 08. Still love your stand! Hope to see you back again....

Thanks. The tank just isn't getting the attention it deserves. Since setting this up I have taken a very serious interest in photography and spend most of my free time (and money) with that. Who knows, maybe I'll get the itch again down the road.

Sorry to see you go. You have been an inspiration to many including myself as I too followed your design. Thanks for the design, all the help and advice. God bless.

Thanks steelerfan. Is your tank still up? I can't recall.

The livestock buyer will be here today to pick everything up. After empty, I'll start parting out the hardware.

Kind of a sad day. Lot of hard work into this build. 9 year run of ups and down.

One thing I'm proud of is that the first fish I put into the tank will be sold today. A male gold stripedaroon clownfish who is part of a breeding pair. Sort of wished I had tried to raise the fry but I never gave it a go.
