I have 4 kuda in a a 25 tall, I got them as TR babies and they have grown fast and I was wondering if it is possible to do a 120 seahorse tank. They are in the 25 with zoa's mushrooms and xenia. I wnated to place them in the 120 I have and maybe place some pipe fish in there with them. Some input and info would help. Do's and don'ts.
Thanks Ade

dont put them with stinging corals, or any aggressive fish. ideally you only want to put them with pipefish, mandarins, clown gobies, and other peaceful keep-to-themselves fish. i have a pair of h. reidis in with my clowns, and a few other fish, and i have not had any problems, but the horses were in there first and they do not having feeding problems because they feed from my hand and/or have a clam shell i put food in for them.
as for putting the horses in a 120, i think that owuld be awesome. there are plenty of corals, inverts, and such that you can put with the horses, but just keep in mind that they are very slow eaters and must either be fed separatly or fed in a feeding tray like a shell or leather coral with an indentation.
if you plan on just using it for seahorses, then i am very impressed and would love to see pictures of the tank when you are done. good luc and hope i helped a little

A 120 woud be an awesome home for them, and the pipes! Nice and long for the pipes to swim in, but high enough for the horses to enjoy. If you can get the horses to use a feeding station, you will have a good idea of what they are eating. Otherwise, the food gets dispersed throughout the tank and they have to work harder to find it ... not that that is bad unless they have to work TOO hard, you just have to make sure they're keeping their weight on. A feeding station could be a seashell with some plants or hitches nearby is all you need.

We just put up a 90g tank for our horses, we have 5 reidi. The system is plumbed in with our 230g reef and grow tank to a 100g sump. Water quality is great.

They love the extra room for hunting and swimming and I am hoping to add pipefish sometime, but they're hard to come by up here, so we're going to look when we're on holidays to see if we can't get a couple while away.

This is a picture of the tank. Please bear in mind that we just got it all moved 2 nights ago, so it's a little bare and the decorating still needs to be done, but this is it:

I think your horses would love a 120g :)

That tank looks great stewch.
The only problem I can see would be the temp. The 120 is lit by VHO's and has a canopy and it is hard to keep the temp below 80.
I don't want go buy another chiller.

we have a chiller running through the sump which cools the water for all of the tanks, our temps are 77 on average.

If you plumbed your seahorse tank to the rest of your system, then you shouldn't have a heat problem. My husband also rigged up a computer fan and is placed over the seahorse tank only to allow for additional cooling. We have it on the aquatronic system so it's timed to go on while the lights are on.

What size chiller are you running? I don't think that mine is large enough to run both tanks. Plus I don't want exposed pluming running inside of the house. Tanks are on differant walls. When I plumbed in the 180 I placed the chiller outside so that I wouldn't have to hear it running, I don't think I have the time to brake down the 180 and the 120 to plumb them togeather. I have a large fan that runs when my light are on, stil very hard to keep the tank below 80. I guess that I will have to save my pennies.

I have no idea what size of chiller we have, but to me it's big LOL..that's my hubby's department.

Our two tanks are on separate walls (230g on one wall and 90g on another) and that they are plumbed through the walls with flexible tubing to what used to be our storage room. In the storage room, the flexible hose is then routed along the floor on the edges of the walls to our sump. We have a growout/frag tank set up in there too which is also connected to the sump.

Hubby has used alot of tubing and ball valves to regulate flow to each tank as well. He just put in this weekend, an external pump for all the systems, I think its called an Iwaki (no clue on spelling), its a little loud, but its better than all the pumps we had INSIDE the sump.

Hopefully you can set up your tank for your horses. Mine love the new 90g, and we're putting more horses in there in a few weeks.

That sounds realy great. The 180 has been set up for around 4 years and the 120 has been there for the past 6 months, it used to be a 90. Like I said I don't have the time to break down the two tanks right now. I wished that I got into SH a lot sooner then I could have done things a lot different.
