120g setup

I have a 120g (48x24x24) that I want to add 2 6000 with a multicontroller. I have 2 Eheim 1262 return pumps (~900 gph each) on at each corner pointing toward the center of the tank. I was going to put the 6000s on opposite ends and flow toward each other. But looking at the various setups posted it appears they are mounted in the corners flowing toward the center just as my returns are...

What would you recommend?

Here's a basic diagram of the top of the tank... The grey objects are my two returns, the red is where I was thinking for the 6000s.

Or would I be better off changing the position of the returns to something like this?

I think your second option would be more attractive and work just as well. You could also probably pull one of the Eheims, great pump but they take a lot of power and make a lot of heat.

Thanks Roger,

So should the returns be lower in the tank to help eliminate any deadspots behind the rock?
The Ehiems are being run outside of the sump...

Thanks,
Calvin

The Eheims are water cooled so their really is not much that would eliminate the heat transfer but if you don't have a heat problem than don't change it. It would not be necessary to lower the returns.
