120gal progress pics

Want to share the progress of this tank. The rock went in on 4/15/14 so a little over a year old. Here are some photos of this tank throughout the past year. It's just now getting mature and the acros are starting to take off so I will be sharing some more pics soon. I'm running two 250watt Radiums and dosing 130ml of alk and 130ml of calcium every day

Wow. Where did you get that goni? How big was it when you got it? Do you feed it? Sorry for all the questions.

The red goni came from another reefer on here. I don't feed it just the fish but it grows like crazy. I've probably had it about a year but I've been cutting it so it gives me more room for other corals.

Love that Goni, what a great centerpiece! I like the layout of your tank, reef shelves are my favorite. Looks great!

Thanks! When I added it to the tank it immediately started using 35ml of alk a day. I've been using Easy Alk Doser on this tank to deliver the alk to the water column every day. Google it if you have questions. I'm now dosing 130ml of each alk and calcium. I might switch over to a calcium reactor but not sure.

Emmett, make sure you rinse off the chain oil from the chainsaw when you're fragging that thing. Don't want to contaminate this system! :lmao:

Ha funny! Yeah I take it out to the backyard and cut it with an old tile saw. No joke. Yeah still have the mollies love them. Thanks for posting maybe see u soon

I don't want to speak for Emmett, but I'm pretty sure that is basically the frag/grow out tank, plus another frag tank and the display.

But yeah, what the hell, setup another. Lol.

So the Sea Swirl has a motor in it and it keeps on swinging back and forth. You need a return pump to power and provide water to the Sea Swirl right?

So what kind of return pump do you use to provide water to all 4 Sea Swirls?
Do you use one return pump for each Sea Swirl or 1 return pump for all 4 Sea Swirl?

No different then any other return except a synchronous motor turns the pvc pipe within the project box. Basically it's a pipe within a pipe with a few o rings to prevent leaks.

Funny how we all key in on different parts of tanks that we love. Yes of course I saw the Wilson basketball a.k.a. goni in the middle, very impressive, but for me it was the encrusting SPS mounted on the returns. I saw that for the first time relatively recently and LOVE that idea! Gorgeous tank and some more great ideas for me!

Also, I currently use a (cheap) Powersweep pump by ZooMed in 2 of my tanks. The water pressure turns the gear that causes the nozzle to move back and forth. They have at least 2 output versions and I have both. They have been running about a year and cost about $25. Top of the line...uhh no. Helpful as a powerhead and variable water flow? Very yes.
