125 Mixed Reef Build Thread

I like it so far. Wondering what is going to hide the seems in the front. I didn't read everything so sorry if I missed that.

It looks like it's built strong enough to hole about 3 of the tanks you built it for! Better safe than sorry I guess.

I'm going to spackle the seams in the front. It should do the job well enough. I'll probably do that tomorrow. I'll get everything except the doors on and done tomorrow I hope. And I wasn't sure what would hold it, so I went a little overboard. I wish I had someone to help me that knew fish tank specific stands. I only had my dad who knows how to build decks and stuff.

Keep updating! You're giving me a lot of inspiration for my stand build!

Glad to know I'm at least inspiring someone. This was my first step into building something on my own. I was expecting to have to redo it at least once but it seems to be coming out much better then I anticipated. I wasn't sure if everyone was just thread stalking waiting for me to post something other than regular updates or what. I actually thought I was boring everyone to death by going so slow, but my school schedule doesn't permit me to get much done.

Attempted to white wash this thing today. Idk how I feel about it. I'm leaving my options open to just paint it straight white. Opinions?

I like the white wash...beach cottage look!

That's what I was going for. One of the sides is nice (the side pictured) the other side is the side that was my test side, so not quite as nice. :fun5: I'll probably leave it the way it is now. Maybe put another coat on.

My uncle brought the doors back today. All I can say is WOW! These things look professionally done. I knew I made the right decision asking him to help me make them. Will paint these and do a second coat next week sometime.

Thanks. I'm about ready to get a second coat of paint and a top on it. I'm still waiting for this 125 to come in. I'm not sure why the heck its taking so long.

That's how it happens with everybody haha. The good news is, when the tank comes it'll be all systems go

tell me about it. If you look at my thread it took an extra month for me to get my tank. But well worth the wait.

Lol. I'm waiting to get a cycle going before ordering a light. Then I'm going to put a huge order on swf for a big cuc a naso and 2 maroon clowns

Waiting for parts to come in on a build is the worst! I get like a little kid before Xmas! I also do remember Marc11's build thread and how he had to wait another month for his tank to come in.

Big update today. I did a second coat. Went much heavier this time and I like it more. It's almost white, but you can see the grain underneath it just a bit. So I'm happy. I also got a bunch of miscellaneous tank stuff in. I got a Fluval E300, 2 WP-40s, rock cement from marcorocks. and the sump that I talked about last update. The last thing I'm waiting for to come in is the tank itself. Still!
