12g AquaPod HQI Heat issues

Hey guys i'm stuck between getting a BioCube 14 and a 12gallon AquaPod HQI. I want to get the HQI which has that sweet 70 watt metal halide SunPod instead of a top, but I'm concerned about heat issues resulting. Could anyone with a 12g AP HQI let me know how they fare with heat? I'm in an apartment in Boston and am concerned about summer. I do have a window AC and can close my door to my room (which is pretty small) so I could cool it off pretty easily. I'm still concerned though =( Can anyone out there help me out?

Can't say anything about a AP, but I have a 150w MH and it will raise the temp a degree or two in my room and about 4 degrees in the tank if I dont have the AC on in the summer. Doesnt really heat the room or tank up too much but it does it enough you might want to run a fan over it and that should take care of the heat problem.

thanks for the input! i'm trying to avoid running a fan... my 55g at home had such massive evap from a fan blowing over it. I also don't have my RO unit out here at school with me so i want to avoid large topoffs

I have a 150w MH over my 24 g AP and the evaporation isn't that bad, then again I'm in south FL where its always very humid. I go through 2-3 gals of distilled water a week. I also have a window AC unit that I use to keep it cool in my studio. That alone should be fine. Test it out for a few weeks, and see what changes need to be done. I had to buy a new window AC because the one I had before wasn't powerful enough to keep the room cool. I bought one that would now keep a small house cold, let alone a 300 sq ft studio. :)

good to know! i'm hoping the 70 watt will produce not too much in the way of heat, but then again, a 12 gallon system is pretty small so it might even out and produce a decent amount of evap
