1. How old is this aquarium?
13 years

2. If less than six months old, what is ammonia level?
N/A

3. What is SG of this aquarium? How measured?
I'm assuming 1.023 as this is store bought and that's what they say it is.

4. When was the last fish added to this aquarium?

5. Was it quarantined? If so, how? And how long? Was it prophylactically treated? How?
No

6. If you are using a copper based medication, which one? How often do you measure level? When?
N/A

7. If you are using hyposalinity, how did you calibrate your refractometer?
N/A

8. Please describe in detail, the appearance of the fish? If there is one or more pimples, are they lumpy? What color?
Two red pimples on the lower fin by the gills. Also red/bloody looking spots on fins and body. Please see picture.

9. Please describe the behavior of the fish as best you can. Is it acting reclusive? Is it always up towards the top of the aquarium? Is it avoiding light? How active is the fish?
About 3 weeks ago, fish would eat it's favorite dried krill. However, it couldn't swallow it so it just spit it back out. When fed softer food, it would eat it and appear to digest it. This happened for 2 weeks and now it's not even trying to eat anything. Fish acts erratic/skittish when it sees dried food flakes floating around. It seems to run away from these food flakes. Sometimes, it would swing it's head from one side to the other, appearing to "shake" something out of its mouth. Hangs out towards top of aquarium or the bottom by it's favorite spot but just stays still. Fish is 13 years old.

10. Is the fish eating? What?
Fish used to eat like a pig but hasn't eaten for about a week.

My 13 year old lemonpeel died out of nowhere about 2 months ago. My 13 year old tomato clown and 3 year old damsel are doing just fine. The lfs I bought saltwater from for 13 years closed down and I started using water from another store about 4-6 months ago. Thanks in advance for any kind of help!

Mmm your thread is a bit confusing, are you asking or telling us? Anyways.......I'd say he's maybe at the end of his life..... As far as being in an aquarium. They can probably live longer in the ocean, but I'd say you gave it a valiant attempt, You should be proud keeping him as long as you have. If your other fish are fine that's a good sign. The fact that he's no longer eating is what leads me to think his days are numbered. He looks pretty bad according to the photos. Good luck, sorry to hear about your loss. Emperors are the poster child for Marine Aquariums.... Beautiful fish.

oops, forgot to ask if there's any kind of treatment to heal whatever disease it seems to have. thanks for the kind words.

You could try to get him in a QT and treat with a bacterial /fungal type Rx...... doesn't look like ick. IMO the shock alone of catching him and putting him in quarantine plus the fact that he has not eaten in a week could be enough to kill him unfortunately. He looks to have some obvious deformity in his tissue and bone structure as well as HLLE. I could be wrong pictures are small.

When is the last wet thing added to the aquarium? Have you tried feeding frozen? Have you tested the water you are buying?

Looks like skin hemorrhage and possible the onset of fin rot. It's a bacterial issue. I would get some Kanamycin and treat 50-100mg per liter for 7 to 10 days or nifurpirinol at 1-2 mg per liter for the same time duration

thanks for all the help guys. started some bacterial treatment but 13 years of life finally came to an end. sad to seem him go as i had him as a baby. think i'll stick with smaller fish for a while. this is a great community!
