135g Oceanic Build

Looks really good. The only thing I would maybe change is to raise the lights another couple inches so they don't hang below the canopy. They look like they are bright enough that another couple inches away from the water wouldn't make much difference.

working on a video...heck James I JUST figured out how to take pictures of this stuff with my camera and have it not look like a bottle of windex..lol!!

I finally feel like I am getting somewhere water wise....getting great coralline growth under these LEDs.....I can see it growing daily, I might be in purple trouble here in a few months...if it continues to grow like it is..

Purchased/traded some nice coral from a local reefer today. Hung out and talked reef for 2 hours, very cool guy. He had a 12-14" red bubble tip with a 3+" clown hosting it...was amazing. That is what this hobby is all about. :D

2 varieties of zoas and and green button polyps

I was never able to keep a powder blue until I added Ozone to my tank, I had lost several over the years to the Ich. When i built my newest system i added a powder Blue and a Kole Tang. I had been unsucessful keeping both of these fishes in the past. Naturally, after I added them they broke out with Ich. I added an ozone injector to my skimmer and the ich cleared up in a couple of weeks. Since then in the last 4 years I have had two more out breaks of Ich after adding new fish to the system. Each time, I put the ozone back on line and each time the ich has cleared up with no losses. Lots of people argue that ozone doesnt work. I have had three outbreaks of ich in my tank and each time I applied ozone and esch time the ich went away with no losses.

Very nice. That is good to know.

After the powder blue attempt, I am not sure if I want any tangs in this build or not. The ones I know can keep alive just get so big..I have the monster foxface, so might just stick with him as my big guy and stock the rest small and colorful reef friendly. That powder blue was a pride hit also, like I am sure it is with most who try that fish...:(

I really like the canary and sandhopper blennies I added for example, lots of color and tank dynamics (and small waste production! hehe)

So the guy I bought the small softies and LPS from text messaged me today and said he was breaking down his tank and getting out.....having looked at his tank I knew what his best pieces were. :D

Scored a x-large red bubble tip anemone attached to a x-large piece of rock (filled a 5g bucket) and 2 mature MATED clown fish hosting the anemone!

Also picked a x-large toadstool coral attached to a decent piece of rock and a skunk cleaner shrimp.

Tonight has been a blast. Might be the best night I have enjoyed so far with the hobby watching everything respond to this small world I have created in my kitchen.....

Hey!

Great tank!

Im just starting my 90g build.

I found your post on Aquariumled.com

How are the lights working out for you? Im assuming you would recommend them?

Which color did you get the 14k or 20k?

Thanks!

the price seems a little too good to be true?

I went with the 14k. And yes the price is too good to be true, so jump on them now before the manufactures and distributors realize how high in demand these things really are.....lol

I am 100% happy with these lights. As you can see in the pics all the LPS/softies are at the middle/bottom. I am saving the top for some SPS frags when my nitrates stable at at 5-

These lights will support a lot of stuff. The 250w MH comparison is pretty dead on via their website.

I was a tad hesitant they would not pop the red in this RBTA (they pop green and purple like no other), but man they do just fine. :D

Just dropped it in there last week. Pulled mostly brown the first few days. Will keep cleaning it every 7 and hopefully will start to see some green.

Tank looks great, also where did you get the lights from? I looked for aquariumled.com and it no longer works! Also do you surf the local reef club here in Charlotte?

Well, that bites cause aquariumled.com website is for sale! Looks like your lights really were too good to be true. The local club is Reef Aquarium Society of Charlotte or rasoc.org, hope to see you on there.

What kind of time schedule are you running with those lights? Do you turn them completely off at night? Random questions but I am interested in purchasing them!

Blues only are on for 11 hours a day, blues + whites are on for 8.

I run the moonlights for 3 hours after the blues go out at night (for the only reason of eyeballing some inverts in action running around that hide all day).

At night I also run a CL in the fuge for the scrubber.

Yeah the previous owner of aquariumled.com was middle man, he was only distributing from a source in China. I am assuming he made his money (and then some :D) and is looking for another start up be my guess, thus selling the website. Would be a good time to sell it and make some profit off of it for sure, can't say I blame him.

The lights he had access to were great. Hopefully the purchaser will get the same contact.
