So a few of you have had the displeasure of seeing my 140 turn into the green forest of doom. With help from Rhett last weekend we were able to cut down the aqua forest and get it nice and shiny again like starfire is supposed to look. I have already received most of my parts, but am waiting on a few to get the ball rolling. I will be posting pics as it progress' and I hope I that it turns out much better than the last go round since I am not rushing it. Here is a list of what's going in and on it.

140 gallon starfire Ocea tank
60 gallon sump
2x 250W XM 20K MH's
3x 39W T5's (KZ Fiji Purple, ATI Blue +, Coral Vue Actinic) Got 2 of each going to play around and see what works the best.
2x Vortech MP40W's
1x Apex (Got the droid app to go with it)
100 lbs. of Bimini Pink Carib Sea sand
100 lbs. Marco Rock ( may add more after I get this next batch in)
Mag 9 Pump for return
Vertex In-180 Skimmer
Top Fin Heaters

The rest of my rock was at the house when I got there, so the only thing I am waiting on is the Apex and the water. It's going to take a while to run 140 gallons. Need to pickup a brute trashcan this weekend to hold water in since my cheapo sprung a leak.

Yes it is zef. It is actually evrything from that tank except for the ballasts apex and the skimmer.

Go ahead and spend the extra money on good trash can. Youll always thank yourself later and you have a place to get out of the rain when you **** Tavia off, lol.

Lol, thanks for the advice Rhett. So, the last time I put the 2 vortechs in a pattern that caused a circulation effect. I had one placed on the left side glass and the other on the back right next to the overflow facing the front of the tank. The flow went from left to right and back to front. Does anyone have a better suggestion on placement? The tank is sitting in a corner in my living room, so I can place them anywhere on the back wall or the left side without worrying about what the wires look like. The back wall is black, so they blend nicely with it as well. I want to go for the cleanest look with the best flow obviously. All suggestions are appreciated.

You will IMO get the best flow having them on the sides (Longest) and have one just a tad lower than the opposite side running on short pulse mode. It will give you the wave motion and the Chaotic flow that your looking for. Put them on Anti Synce is how you stop the whirlpool I think?

I will give that a shot, thanks Bill. I apparently have to order a new washer that goes between the magnet and the plastic housing that connects to the shaft. Seems that it did not come with one when I bought it. Anyone else need any replacement parts from ecotech? Not worth the shipping on a $1.20 part to only order that.

I need to order a spare wetside, But need other things as well so just can't do them all at once. Maintenence items need to bought B4 spares...
Bill

i may have a washer anthony for you. ill have to check when i get home. if any you local reefers need parts for your vortech pump let me know i all ways have spare parts just not the dry houseing. if i dont have it i know i need ESW controller which ill order 2 washers a more part to be safe.for me and others;^}

Here is a video of the wave I got going with the MP40's. I could have gone bigger, but the wife didn't want me to soak the new flat screen that sits next to the tank. :D
