150 cube started

You doing fish quarantine while the tank is cycling? I quarantined every single fish that ever went into my 120g and never had one spot of ich on any fish.

Do you have the sump area constructed and functional yet? And what do you intend to keep in this tank? How are you setting up your flow?

I will Quarantine as much as I can, I already have alot of fish stored away in my other 8salt tanks, its to bad that 90% of them are clowns.

As Far as Fish is concerned:

Yellow Tang- thanks ahenson
Grade A Picasso with Platinum male
Flasher Wrasse
Flame Hawk
Starry Eye Blenny
Not really wanting alot of fish in this system, I have enough in the other system.
Primarily a softy tank, may try a couple other corals.

I am actually really novice when it comes to corals. Now that I have a larger system that will have a more stable parameters I think I might venture out a little. I really don'y want to go the route of calc reactors and all that other crazy stuff.

As far as the sump area it is half --- right now. I am waiting for a 30gal sump to come in. Right now I just have a drilled 20 long hooked up. No Skimmer Yet ,, Still Looking for one.I willhave a ref that is a 15 gal acrylic tank with bulkheads drilled in the top. I will feed the ref. via a little rio pump from sump and let it gravity feed back into sump area after skimmer. One Question would be should I put the feed pump before or after the skimmer. Lighting will be on opposite schedule of display lights for the most part. Ref won't be setup until I get my new sump in.

The Flow will go as this ( I THINK)

Iwaki 30 - around 760gph
( Marineland overflow will only handle 700gph)
The Head pressure is at 5ft and that reduces it to around 690gph

I am using my MP10ES on the tank right now and the flow is pretty good. But I know once I get all my rock work done it will not cut it.

I bought a Tunze Wavebox 6215 and should be here at the beginning of next week, hopefully this won't be to much. Just have to wait and see.

The Tank really shouldn't go through much of a cycle. I just broke down my 40 breeder that was full of live rock that was up and running for about a year. Plus I have had my 100gal broodstock sump full of live rock for around 6 months consuming waste from at times 290 fish.

Feed the refugium after your skimmer. Have your skimmer get first shot at the tank water. I like how you set all this up. I think if I had the budget I wouldn't change a thing you are doing. You could T your return to the tank and control flow to the tank and the fuge with ball valves too.
I got a wavebox too, hope they work out good for both of us.

bummer... I think you should reconsider and set it up as a mixed reef with some sweet SPS up at the top of the rocks.
If I get one of these, I think I'm going to do the island rockscaping approach and definitely include SPS.

I have a skimmer I'm going to be selling that would probably do well on this system that I've been using the last couple years on my 120g. It's an MSX 200 and it pulls out some pretty good gunk.

I would have to idea where to start with SPS,, not even a clue
I would bet you and your kids will like the colors and movement of soft corals more. The ability to keep SPS is not a mystery. Many have proven over the years it can be done succesfully. The technology and knowledge is readily available now.
What is important is what corals you like. My girls are much more impressed by the movement and color of soft corals and LPS than by sticks (SPS)

I like the color and movement of soft corals too, have a huge liking for colorful ricordea and zoanthids, and I have to get my "agu-thingy" LPS in good shape again. Was just a suggestion... actually, the suggestion being to do a mixed reef, not just SPS. My reef had SPS, LPS, softies, anemone, love the whole look.

I got the rock I wanted, thanks Sloeber

Sloeber had talked about how big some of his rock was. HOLY ---- it was big. I am not putting anymore in there. I really like how it fills up the water column. PERFECT

I am pretty much at the point that I am going to buy another LED fixture for the front. I think that the one that I have is so directional that it creates to many shadows that is not to my liking, especially in the front of the tank.

Or switch the T5 to the front and put the led in the back, you will loose the shimmering effect up front though. So maybe it is best to just buy another LED fixture. The rock looks good in your tank, thought that since you were going for the more pillar type look that the front peice was a must for you. Really like the looks so far and cant wait to see the wavemaker in action. I'v only see one in action on a 125 and it really made the tank look very natural as far as water movement goes.

Wow....love the aquascpaing / rockwork...with the seperate islands and tall colums. Gonna look amazing once you have corals covering them.

OK, Finally got my sump in today. Its been driving me crazy running a 20long with no bubble traps. Fine bubbles in my DT is crazy and isn't doing any justice for my LEDS aswell.

Sump looks small with the skimmer in there. The sump is the biggest I could fit in the tiny foot print that I have in stand without emptying the tank and removing some bracing (no way).

I will be installing the baffles tomorrow and putting one of the bubble trap ones a little wider to have one of my heaters in the space (400watt jager).
