150 is being filled

Oh and I hooked up my apex today which makes me happy too. Now just need this cycle to finish and then I can move everything else over from the 65

I wonder how much a tank like that would run with that footprint. I like the look of your tank so much Im thinking of upgrading to one just like it:spin3:

I actually got it for a steal from a fellow reefer. I think new they run for about $944.
I do know a guy who might want to sell one thats about the same size. I think its the same length but hight is a bit higher.

Today I went down stairs to check on the tank and I have some algae growing in a few places! Im glad I think this is a sign that my cycle is coming to an end. I think my algae bloom would have been more than it is if i was not running GFO.

What do you think?

You tank will cycle for a long time. Every time you add something a small cycle will take place again and things will need to balance out. Just be aware and don't freakout if you have algae take off in like 2 months. It will eventually run it's course.

Just a question for you and maybe get some good info from others who know more about this - did I see that you said you have your GFO reactor hooked up and running right now? Do you really need/want to do that when trying to cycle? I would think you might be removing nutrients that would help the cycle, especially when you are starting with mostly dry rock.

Tank is looking good. I really like the 2'Dx2'H dimension (mine is 36" long with same D and H). Nice depth of view and room to scape while leaving space for swimming AND you can reach everywhere without swimming.

Lol I won't freak out I've been through this a few times now. Just never had algae 10 days after take off. I will be going slow in this aquarium. Like many I've learned the hard way of what to do and what not to do.

Thank you so much. I love the dimensions of this tank. As for the GFO I'm not real sure if it's a bad idea to have it up and running right now. I have heard that many have run GFO and bio pellets from day 1. If I run the bio pellets I will more than likely have an algae bloom.

it might be the Bio Pellets just turn down the reactor flow back to your tank.if i understand Bio Pellets are like carbon dosing.

So I was gone yesterday and came home late today and the pH was just fine back to 8.2 so I'm happy with that. Actually I'm not a number chaser when it comes to pH. I did notice that my live rock from my old system (that are now in the new one) are looking very green as well as the macro rocks have some fine hair algae or possibly bryopsis on them, I'm hoping its not the ladder.

When does the PH go down? It should naturally fluctuate once the lights go off and photosynthesis slows.

The pH went down the day I started my Bio pellets. But now its back to normal. It only goes down a little at night, as you stated this is normal due to photosynthesis slowing down.

Okay so now my pH is really low at about 7.6. It was up at 8.19 and dropped all day to 7.6 yesterday and it's just staying that low. Might it be an Dkh problem? Or could it be from us shutting the windows to run the ac?

it could be from shutting the windows to run the ac.bio pellets if i understand right will pull your Ph down by taking the air out of the water.what is your Alk sitting at?
