150 is being filled

Alk is not to bad but could go up a little i like mine 9 to 10 Dkh. it it is just the bio pellets you can get a little air pump and that should help you will just have one more air line in your sump.

yeah i might try the air pump for sure. I turned off the AC today and opened the windows and i can see the pH slowly coming back up. Its back to 7.9 right now. The thing is that my tank is set up in the basement and i only have block windows with small small vents in them. So it might take some time but the pH should come back up. I am working on the alk too. Like you Chris I like to have mine about 9 or 10 Dkh. Thanks for all your help bud.

I haven't read the whole thread!

Do you have a fuge? What is it's lighting cycle? I've heard to run it opposite your lighting cycle to help counteract the photosynthesis ph swing.

So far off to a great start this morning. I did a water change yesterday and when i got up today my skimmer must have went nuts. I have a Bubble magnus that has a drain on the cup. The drain line goes to a bottle next to the skimmer which i just open a valve and drain the water....well dumb me i left the drain open and when i got up today about 20 gallons of water was down the drain. Im such a bonehead. I guess I should look at this as another water change lol.

I want to say a big thanks to Chris (lowscooby76) and his recommendations with my pH issues. With my tank being in the basement my pH has been very low, as low as 7.4. I added Kalkwasser in a 5 gallon bucket and used some IV tubing and slowly have been dripping it into my sump over the last few days. Since then my pH has risen and stayed at 8.3

Again thanks Chris.......also pics to follow

My system is also in the basement. I have my skimmer pulling fresh air from outside. and my pH is normally around 8.5 Outside air feeding your skimmer would prevent you from having to mess with kalk.

i'm gald i was able to help you out.hollback that was one of the first thing i told him i would do.ranning an airline from your skimmer to outside is one of the best things you can do for your skimmer and to put air in your tank.then he wanted to run kalk to keep his cal and alk on point for some sps he will have in his tank and give his ph a boost.i can't wait to see some pic's

To be honest, before I got my Apex I NEVER tested for PH and my tank was fine. I never lost a coral or fish in tank (had a jumper) but now I find myself constantly watching my graphs to look at my trends.

I hear you there. I'm always looking at my graphs as well.

Thanks again. Yes your 100% right I want to have my parameters pretty stable before I add anything sps, I feel it's important to have stability and a good starting point. From there I can tweak the system as needed as it grows

here are some pics.

It's still a work in progress. I want to get all the wires cleaned up and neatly tucked away. Along with the return lines from my gfo and bio pellets better positioned. I added a chocolate tang about two weeks ago amd hes doing really good. I plan to add slowlu to this tank. I am working on setting up my qt tank as well. Sometime today I would like to go to phishy and get a cleaner shrimp. That's pretty much the most progress I've made so far.
