Ok I have been just way to busy to update the Build log. Its not from lack of work but that I got a new job and a few more tanks.
I picked up a 240 and that has taken a few weekends to get running.
I should start from the beginning.
I had to raise the Skimmer 4 inches to get the gate valve to clear the baffle so it would empty into the sock. I built an acrylic shelf for the skimmer to sit on in the sump.
The Skimmer was not running as well as I had expected because I was feeding it from the drain of the Prop tank and since I raised the skimmer I could not get enough flow through the prop tank because of the head preasure from the skimmer. So I built a shelf to raise the prop tank 4 inches, I had to empty the prop tank, remove the sump, then slide out the prop tank slide in the shelf and then reinstall the prop tank and sump. You cant hardly tell how much work it took from the pic
This worked for getting more flow through the prop tank but when I hooked it up to the skimmer the back pressure overflowed the prop tank. I ended up feeding the skimmer with a 802 power head anyway.
Work continues on the closet I installed an American DJ power center and some Intermatic digital timers to the power panel. The timers are pretty tricky to set but luckily have a batterie backup so you don't have to do it that often. the DJ power center blew out a few switches in the first month of operation and it would be a pain to send back to have it fixed so I took it to this local electronics shop and I replaced all the lighted 15amp switches with 20 amp switches now it pops the circuit breaker before it burns up a switch.
I cut some aluminum U channel and made starboard inserts that allow the ballast racks to slide in and out for ease of access behind the power panel. The Intermatic digital timers will be replaced in a few weeks when the AC3 I have on order comes in then it will be time to tame that octopus of wires back there.
I was to busy to build the fuge myself I had every intention to do it and had it designed, and even shopped for acrylic but kept putting it off for lack of time. I gave the plans to a friend in the business to cut the pieces and he offered to just go ahead and build it for me. It turned out really nice Thanks Checkinhawk you did a great job. The fuge is 40 gals 24 X 24 X 16 with a 6 X 12 X 18 rubble zone and a 6 X 12 X 18 (5 gal) section that I intend to use for a Carlson or Boremamen surge device.
Since I had the fuge sitting here I had better finish the closet so this weekend I built the top of the closet and installed it and squared it all up with the fuge in place to make sure it would fit. Next I have to take it all down and sand and finish the closet with a few coats of poly.
I build a few reactors for the 150 a Neilson Kalk reactor Sulfur Denitrifier a Fluidized bed filter and a carbon reactor. I still have to build a Ca reactor and all the filtration will be finished.
I have decided to dump the T5s and HQI and go with Vho and MH I built a few reflectors to house the 250 watt Aquaconnect 14k SE bulbs and am still working on the new rack.
More to come on the 240.
