165Gl to 1000Gl system upgrade (Long project)

figured out that its better not to run the pump from 0-100 but rather 0-40 strength

makes as good as a wave and makes much less noise.

I think the tank is ready for the real deal.
Water test passed and all is installed.

is it just me or is the wave crashing over into the overflow extremely loud? Any ideas on quieting it down? But I'm tagging along nice build?

its a bit loud now but am still doing and fine tuning it all
Might also have to make some sort of acrylic gate to make my water level a bit higher
thought maybe a diagonal slide to guide the water into the overflow box ??

Great planning and processing, are you planning for any SPS in this tank?

not sure yet what I will be putting for corals.
Idea would be not to add any new corals for a while (only the corals that survived the move) so the tank can settle down first with only fish.

Could you please explain how is it possible not to have a cycle when you use actual sea water?

as the water and stones actually come straight out of the ocean without ever getting out of the water (minimum die off) for a long period they are actually full of life and bacteria needed to maintain the levels required.
The cycle is actually the build up of bacteria to go through the ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate cycle sequence.
thought will still run the system with as little corals as possible for a longer period of time to make sure the system can even mature more without issues for any corals.
Plan was the leave the tank with fish only for about 6 months.
Only corals that will be placed are those that survived the actual move from the old tank.

time to get the parents to come over and do some more work on the build!

everything is looking good.

just read the entire thread from the original post. tagging along.
