170 Gallon Moonview Library set up

It's like Christmas today! Finally, the tank arrived today and is now sitting in my garage. I am like a kid on Christmas morning. My wife couldn't care less. It wasn't easy, it was supposed to be delivered this morning, but I got a call from R&L that it was sitting on their dock and that I was going to need to come get it because it could not fit on the truck needed to deliver it to me. With packaging and crating, it was over 8 feet tall (due to the book shelves)! I ended up driving over, repacking the book shelves on their sides, and then rescheduling delivery. It just got here about 45 minutes ago. It will take several people to be able to unpack and carry this from my garage up to my living room (a lot of stairs).

Over the next few weeks, as I deal with setting this up, I will add to this post. I hope you don't mind, as I will be looking for feedback and advice from you.

Here is the tank from the company's web site:

Here is how it looks now:

Wow, when I saw your earlier posts I didn't realize the library came with it! I thought you were only getting a tank!

Not good from a hauling it up there perspective, but from a support of the weight issue point of view I will be fine. It is a concrete reinforced floor.

It came in, heh, I guess I forgot to mention the experience getting mine up :) I have a freight elevator thank god, but it was just me and the delivery guy, and that semi circle shape was awkward...I tipped him well, that is for sure.

Beautiful Tank

Where are you located? when its time to move it I may be available to help

Thanks. I am in the South Loop. However, I believe that I am going to hire professionals to bring it up to my living room. It is very heavy and I don't trust myself or my friends to be able to do this without dropping it or screwing it up.

The Solaris showed up today. I will have pictures of that when I get back in town. I am travelling and won't be back until late Friday night.

The latest update is that I have decided not to screw around with trying to move this thing with my buddies. It is very large and very awkward. I have hired a professional mover to come do this for me. Yes, it is cutting into the livestock budget, but I would rather get this done right than chance us screwing up the tank trying to move it.

I called them, worked them for a better price, and they will be here in an hour. So, I should have this put together for pics later tonight.

I picked up the Solaris today also, so I should have that connected as well. This is the 250 watt Solaris, but I have pre-purchased the 400 watt that should be coming out in about a month. I worked out a special deal on a refurbished 250 watt to use while I am waiting on the 400 watt (Hint: Order one now or you may be waiting for a very long time. They will be back ordered for a while to catch up with all of the orders coming for the 400 watt unit). I must say, the gang at Solaris are really great people to work with.

Highing movers was a good idea! I paid to have my tanks moved a couple years ago and it took 4 guys about an hour to manover my 220 down the steps here. Would have really hurt me and the friends I would have gooten to help. Also, if they have an opps, they have a broken tank, you don't.

Yes, it was a great idea, actually. There is no way that my friends and I could have done this. With 3 very large professional movers, they still had a very tough time. After watching them deal with this, I am very glad that I didn't try to do this myself with my friends. No way.

Pics later.

OK, here are the pics. Again, I cannot be happier that I pried open my wallet and paid for professional movers.

I still have an incredible amount of work to do. I have to paint the back of the tank. I have to run the plumbing and the wiring. I have to get the sump and refugium and get that set up.
