I got my first MH this weekend. Its a 175 pendent. I was going to put if over my 29 gal. I know I am going to need a new bulb. It was suggested to me to get a 14k. I want a little blue, but mostly clean crisp white look. just a hint of blue.
While looking at the different bulbs Iam getting a little confused. It looks like not all the 14k are the same white with blue. and some of them are $$$. I don't want to spend a lot of money and not like the look.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which light put out the best look? Or does anyone have a used bulb laying around that I could get to see if it is the look that I was hoping for?

would it have to be hamilton? From what I am finding there bulbs are 90 to 100 plus on some of the web sites. Do you know where they are selling them for around 60 to 75. Yes it is a hamilton bell pendent.

If you would like the best growth possible go with Iwasaki 14,000K bulbs. They blow away the par by about 20% of XM10,000K's and even the Iwasaki 6500K's. They even beat almost every 250watt bulb.

OK, I feel really stupid now.
Where would I find a 175 14K Iwasaki bulb. I've looked at several different sites. I find 6500- not 14k, or if I find 14K it's a 250watt bulb.

I have the Coralvue 175W 14k bulb and really like it. Its white with just that tent of blue.

Hey pewter, I have 175 W 10K and 14 K hamilton bulbs and i have 175 W Iwasaki 10 K.....

U can come see how they look if needed.

I've got some extra brand new lamps I decided not to use. Somewhere there was a post with pics and prices... I think the pics are still in my gallery.

Anyway, I've got a Venture 10,000K lamp and a "Blue" lamp. Also I have the some ballasts that go with them. PM me if you are interested.
