175w 14k iwaski

Hope you don't mind my 2 cents...
I run that bulb on icecap ballasts. I love it! It is about as bright as my 120 running 2 XM 10K 250watters. It has a very nice crisp white look with maybe just a touch of blue. I am not sure what type of ballasts you have... A friend in my reef club tried this bulb on magnetic and it had abit of yellow to it compared to my icecaps. Yes, these bulbs put out some PAR and brightness. My corals are loving them.

This bulb absolutely ROCKS to say the least! The color is very natural, but still brings out coloration in corals, unlike a lot of other "white" bulbs on the market. Of course you can't argue with the growth rates you get with them as well! This is the ultimate halide for people supplementing with a little bit of actinic.

It's personal opinion really. If you like a bulb that is a little more blue then the Phoenix would be the way to go. If you like the look of a crisp white bulb supplemented with actinic the Iwasaki is a pretty darn hard bulb to beat at only 175w power consumption.

with the phoenix I find that all my sps have the exact colors that they are suppose to have. for example my pink lemonade. It looks like the pictures shown . I have had alot of bulbs they seem to do the best for color and good growth.
