Sounds like a fantastic project! I loved my in-wall tank when I had it. 230g display system that divided our kitchen and dinning room. I would love to have another similar system. Will you be doing a build thread for it?

I would love a volcano skimmer for my 1000g project. Although I've only seen photos here, they look amazing!

Hi Catherine,
I finally posted those pictures of the glass in my thread, sorry for the delay.
Any more progress on the tank?

Yea I will post every screw I put in....well almost, the only thing I'm concerned about is reaching the front of the tank, how did you reach the corals from a fish room? did you have an access panel above the tank in front? I'm looking to get like a 72Lx30w25h with two 1.5 overflows in the center what do you think of these dimensions.

No real progress since the last update, tomorrow should see the final silicone seal on the tank.

Thanks for the photos Maroun.C!

Tank has received its final silicone seal. We want to do another final coat inside the overflow box tonight, or maybe tomorrow. Teleposts will be in next Saturday, so we can pick them up when we are ready to do so.

We need to find 3 5g buckets for the drilling portion of the build. I've had no luck so far with our local board, but hopefully someone will offer some up for sale or trade soon.

The tank lifting party will be Sunday, May 4th, and by that time the tank should be drilled and the floor should be reinforced, allowing us to add water shortly thereafter.

I can't wait to have a tank that behaves again. I'm dying to get this system set up. My current nano system is just killing me lately.

I have my buckets now! I just have to go pick them up on Tuesday. Drilling should happen on Thursday, and I'll post lots of pictures. We'll be drilling 3 holes, 3x for 1.5" bulkheads, one return, one emergency overflow, and one regular overflow.

I've been looking at dry rock this morning. I'm on the fence between Eco-Rox and Marco Rocks, both will ship to Canada so that is one good thing. I want to go for a sleek design, something like Danskim or Leonardo's tanks. I want to do low a collection of low islands and grow staghorn type trees, or at least large SPS colonies. I figure I will put about 50-80lbs in the display and probably another 50 lbs in the sump, maybe more.

I know Marco Rocks had some issues recently, but have they completely been resolved? What about Eco-Rox, anyone have an experience with that?

I'm also debating on the purchase of either the new RKE or the Profilux as a controller for this system. I just wish the RKE would be released sooner rather then later.

Another fantastic tank! There are so many. Isn't Ed's tank the one with the MH spotlight angled on his SPS at ~45 degree angle?

I drooled over the build thread for a few days when i read it. I love the MH spotlight idea, and how seamless his whole tank looks. I need to go find his thread again and look for some updated photos.

I picked up about 15lbs of rock for the 180g, I'm cycling it in a trashbin in my utility closet. OMG is it foul! I'll also be adding some dry rock I have in the next few days so I can be ready to toss it all into the tank when the time comes.

Tank drilling will start tonight, probably around 4 or 5 hours. Its raised up right now, and just waiting to be drilled. I have a set of diamond hole saws that I'm thankful for buying last year. I'll try and post photos up, I'm still using that borrowed P&S camera, and we aren't getting along too well.

Some photos of the new skimmer. The skimmer we picked up is an Octopus dual recirculating skimmer (DDNW-250).

We can also blame the lack of a drilled tank on three things; Rock Band, Mario Kart, and adult beverages! Drilling tomorrow? Maybe? No promises, the draw of video games is very strong.

Haha I've been playing Bully Scholarship Edition... luckily all I can do with my tank build is wait till the rock gets cultured + the sand too ;)

It's bad enough GTA 4 is coming tomorrow  though I'm not that big of a fan..
