I'm starting from scratch. In wall 180 GAL. 6 ft. X 2ft. X 2ft. Fish room 9X10 ft. I need to build a stand, i never like the stands ht. they are always to short. Can anyone tell me how tall they built theres from floor to the bottom of the tank and show any pictures? I will have fish and sps, lps. I will be running 3- 400 watt metal halides over the tank with some VHOS also. I don't know what blubs i will be useing as of yet. I have a ASM-G 2 protein skimmer with a mod. that was done to it, another sedra 9000 sedra pump it does a great job now. I have a chiller if needed and a diy cal. reactor. I will need to buy a kalk reactor i'm not sure what i will be useing for that. I'm going to purchase a ocean motion 4 or 8 way and run my dart 3600 on the closed loop. I have a 60 gal. sump i use now so i will use that again and i still have to get a frag tank, and a refugium tank. If any one has any suggestions please let me no. I will be posting pictures of the aquarium room sometime this week. Thanks for all of your help.

I built my stand 40" tall out of 2" square tubing and then went and had it Line-x coated. I also built a 14" catwalk that bolts on.

I am building a in wall 125RR right now and I built my stand 34" tall out of 2X4's. Better get some pics coming soon.

4Everwet and woodycb i built the stand 40in. i hope it not to tall but we will see. I will have the photo's of what i did by the weekend. I will try to get them uploaded to photo bucket .com tonight. Thanks for the reply.

I totally agree with you on the stand heights which is one of the reasons I decided to build my own...I went with 42" height.

Yea to me 40" to 42" is the perfect height so you don't have to look down at the tank. I'm building a 240 gallon inwall with my fishroom in the garage. The wife gave our camera to her sister so we could get a new one, so as soon as we get one I'll get some pics.

Here is what i have done so far.

I have to put more support on the back of the tank. The platform is 3 feet so that gives me a extra foot to work with. I'm thinking about building an extra foot onto it also. Thanks for the reply saltysupply.

Thanks spookey. I'm going to try to finish framing the walls this weekend. Then comes the hard part the electric. Can share how they ran the electric outlets? Thanks again.

Here is what i did over the week end. We have all the walls up now and the ceiling. It's coming along. I had to cut the front wall were the tank sits so that it will be centered. I will be doing the electric and haning the dry wall this weekend. If anyone has suggestions for elec. feel free to give them to me before the weekend. Thank's.

Thank's ahuxman58. I have other pictures i will post this week. The room is now ready for drywall. All electric is in and fans. Starting to shape up.

with that being an all-glass tank with the bottom peice of glass being recessed up into the trim you will not need foam under the tank.

I do have a peice of form that i was going to put under the tank. You don't think i should put it under the tank Jcato?

Why place a piece of foam? Just asking as I am planning a 220 setup... I thought that the wood panel was enough.. ??

all-glass tanks are designed to have all the weight of the tank supported by the front, back and side panels, if you notice under the tank the bottom glass is about 3/8" up from the bottom and by putting foam under the tank you could put pressure on the bottom peice of glass making it support what the edges should be doing. on acrylic tanks and glass tanks (i.e. glasscages) that do not have the trim should have foam under them to help even out any issues with an uneven stand and any pressure points.
