I got a lot done with plumbing tonight. Some is dry fitted and some glued like the manifold. The return is just about done all I need to do is glue. I put unions on all my CL returns so I can take it apart for any reason. The one bad thing is the tank will come out 9 additional inches in width with the CL. With the exception of the CL I'm feeling good about the plumbing.

I did a full water test and everything looked great. The bean overflow is very quiet I still need to fine tune it but see the potential There was an occasional flush (nothing crazy just a lil one) but I believe that is from the pipe too far in the sump. I also didn't drill any holes in the bottom or top stand pipes which I believe needs to be done?

I finished my sump today.

The tank is done and filling up. I already put the sand and live rock in I used epoxy to hold the pieces together. I'm pretty happy with the outcome I finished the closed loop which I haven't tested for leaks yet but feel good about it. Everything is in place ready to be fired up which will be tomorrow night I would guess. Still need another 60 lbs of sand for the fuge and I should be good to go.

I hope the CL isn't loud that will be frustrating.

I don't plan on using any lock lines on the CL. As far as the return pump, it's a water blaster 10000. It is the loudest item I have running. Which is much louder than my dart gold pump. Which leads me to what can I do to put under the pump and what can I wrap the PVC with to dampen the sound?

I do have great news. I figured out the bean overflow!!! I didn't have the top caps screwed down tight enough which is why I kept hearing air get sucked in. I'm sure I can tweak it a little more but it took no time to dial it in


No news on the skimmer. Still not doing anything. Need to read the manual for break in time. I did end up raising it up to 9.5".

Also to help jump start the cycle I dumped a few silversides and a couple pieces of home fish food.
 
Breaking all the rules.....................

Well most of you are not going to like this and really I don't either but I ended putting more than half of my corals into the new tank without it finishing its cycle. To top it off. I don't even have a test kit for ammonia and trites because they expired. So once everyone calms down I needed lt let everyone know or I wouldn't have been able to post any pictures. Lol.

So the reason for the move so soon is because I sold my 33 gal to someone and they are picking it up this weekend It's nice because he bought the setup. So I started yesterday putting corals in and put my giant Monti cap in today. So far so good but I know I will prob loose a few However I have really let my 33 gal go since I've been working on the 180 gal system.


I did get a lot done tonight. I moved my entire apex system over to the new tank and everything is all set and running. Before doing that I installed a gcfi outlet for the tank. It's the same one I bought for the 33 gal but never installed it. I also did a half *** job of rigging my lights. I need to build something for them but not sure what. Any thoughts?

Good new is I'm going to buy the kessil 360w for the new tank since I sold my old one.

Not sure what brand on the skim mate locker? Got a little bit more done on the tank. I ended up ripping out my battery operated lighting under the stand and put in 3 led hockey pucks lighting is 1000 x brighter and don't need to worry about batteries.

I also put together a $3 stand mount for my lights. This is temporary until I build my canopy but a lot better than the boxes I was using

The tank has been going thru the motions. I've seen some algae blooms but my cuc has made quick work on it. I have officially brought bryopsi over from my old tank. Fortunately my emerald crabs have eaten 80% of it and doing a stellar job keeping it at bay.

Other notes to mention. I noticed my clam is loosing all of the coralline algae from its shell. That's a bummer but the good news is my corals colors have made a huge come back and would say if they were rated 2 out of 10 before I would say they are 5 out of 10 now. Also, I purchased a blue acro over a week ago and the color is sustaining. I've spent $100s in my small tank in any blue acro and they never made it past a few days with color. This is a good step so far but a lil too early to tell. Anyway here are some pics.

Going to be trading out my kessils in the next few weeks. I just can't keep the right colors with sps. Lps and softies are great. Anyway going to either a radium t5 setup or a PAC sun t5 led hybrid or ati led powermodule I'm not doubting kessil could work but prob need at least one or two more for a total of 4-5 on a 5' tank.

This is with only two bulbs on and LEDs at 50%. I love this light. I think I'm going to look into a cheap windows tablet to hang by the controller? That way I can make adjustments easy and it will be touch screen.

My fish are so much more colorful now. I love the red even though violets would be nice too. Now we wait and see how the corals respond. I can say that the colors do pop a lot more now and see the potential. The true test will be on my blue acro if it comes back to the deep blue it had when I bought it. Now it's just very light blue and brown. I'm assuming this acro needs high intensity light? I never can understand which blue acros need a lot light and those that don't ?

Bad news. My external overflow pulled a couple mm so when I came home last night at least 10 gallons of water everywhere. I fixed the part that was leaking only to find the same side leaking in another spot. I did my best to try and squeeze some weld on 4 but really couldn't get in enough for it to go completely clear. Not sure what to do.

My new lights are cooking my corals so I need to lower the LEDs even more.
