My LFS is getting rid of a 180 gallon Marineland tank that was DOA because the trim was cracked. What are you opinions on using a plastic weld on this damage and setting the tank up?

I'm not sure what kind of cement/glue would work on those frames. But you could just buy another frame and not worry about it.

I have replaced this exact part, when my 180 gallon tank was running. Drained 3/4 of it into a tub, slowly broke the plastic brace off little by little, scraped off the silicone, cleaned the glass and siliconed the $100 replacement brace in place. Took about 2 hours start to finish. Most time moving water. Very easy job.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I snoozed on the opportunity and someone picked up the tank before me.

In the future, you could have reached out to marineland and ordered a new top or simply removed it and put on glass eurobrace and had been in good shape.

I replaced the same piece on my 55g All Glass tank after it got broken being moved. Before you buy ot contact Marineland and see if they sell a replacement. If they do and the tank is being sold cheap buy it any fix it.
