180 inwall tank/man cave build

Sweet build. I wish that I was in the hobby when I did my mancave. The bar tank is always a great idea. Good Luck with the Build.

Just finished dry fitting everything. The picture below is of the return. I could get a good picture of the drains due to the lighting.

I have two pumps but only one will be running at a time. The other is a back up(I just happen to have two so I figured why not it set it up with a backup!).that is why both pumps come to a T, so I can switch off the pumps, change the valves and they are traveling the same path. At the top you can see a ball valve, which is where I can add a manifold, or a recirc line. The rest of the line goes up to the tank. Any recommend changes?

Also after getting everything up I noticed this little guy:(n looking scratch)

When I did a water test there is no leaking. Since it is on the glass only, should I use aquarium silicone and cover it just to be safe? The silicone would then be covered mostly by substrate.

Update:
Just finished filling up the sump and tank with freshwater for a test run.

So far just 1 minor leak and 1 big leak.
The minor leak is one drip after I turn the whole system off in the return area.

The big leak is from the bulkhead that is connected to the tank from one of the returns. I think the rubber piece has a slit in it.

So far it looks great! Ill be referencing your build for my own in-wall in a month or so!

Covering the scratch with silicone isnt going to do anything. Best thing you can do is pretend it not there because chances are you are going to be only person to ever notice it.
Ill be tagging along, keep the updates coming!

Sorry for no pics(hopefully some will come later tonight)
Freshwater test is still ongoing, so far so good, just one little easy fix and the system should be great.
Rock is all ready to go, sand is on the way!

might want to paint your beam above the tank with something saltwater proof... like west marine.. also air exchanger or other means of keeping the salt vapor from getting at your house mechanicals... my basement setup took only a few months to start rusting the vent registers on the 3rd floor. If you've never had a big basement tank its cool but you will have to address the humidity and corrosive salt vapor at some point, i would suggest b4 you have it up and running

Good call on painting the beam, totally slipped my mind. I was more worried about humidity and it causing mold throughout the basement, but I believe that I have that figured out. Luckily my home has a very good whole home AC/Humidifier. Which includes part of the basement.

Looking good, any updates?

Starting to finally take shape:
Here is the tank, just started to fill it with salt water last night. Currently have it up and going, however my salt levels are low in the water, I'm out of salt and it's to cold out to go get some more. I'll finish filling it up tomorrow.
