Thanks! Well, I'm a tang lover, but since I'm downsizing my tank, I need to be selective.

As far as tangs, I want a powder blue, Achilles, and Sohal. I had a powder blue and Sohal in my last tank. The Achilles and Sailfin are new for me.

Too bad you didn't have purple tang in your list because I'm probably going to be selling mine. Unfortunately, I may be downsizing my tank, so it'll be too small for my next tank.

However, if you change your mind, let me know. :D I'm only across the park from you and this way, I'll still get to see him if I get visitation rights. haha

Nice lamp selection. What color does the GE 3000K give off - seems like it would be almost a pure white?

I really want a Sohal as well, but I was told that it will get HUGE and can be very destructive. What size tank was your Sohal in before, and was it a 'model citizen'?

Sorry to comment/question so much today, I just really like your reef and your plans.

The GE is sort of a yellowish with a hint of orange - definitely not a pure white. I had 2 Sohals in my last tank, a 240g. Both were model citizens. Despite the common belief that they are aggressive, both were actually one of my easiest going tangs - just cruising around. My 1st Sohal was about 10". I lost most of my coral and some fish due to a Chiller crash in the middle of summer...came home to a cloudy tank. I bought a 2nd Sohal, about 8", and it, too, was pretty chill.

My aggressive tang turned out to be my powder blue. I introduced an Achilles last in my old tank, and the powder blue, despite being smaller than the Achilles, wouldn't let the Achilles eat...he didn't make it.

Hey, no worries about your questions...that's what the forum's for!! And I love your tank too!

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind, just in case I change my mind. I had a purple in my last tank. Trying to keep some of the "less common" ones this time around.

In my last tank, I had a purple, yellow, blue, sohal, vlamingi, dussimeri, naso tang - the last 4 were BIG. They ate like pigs and pooped like them. I'm trying to stay away from too many big fish this time around. I'm thinking one large, show Sohal (or maybe clown tang - but I think the sohal is more beautiful) and that should be good for big fish. I'd like the rest to be small-to-medium sized.

I'm going to introduce the Powder Blue last this time. Hopefully, I can establish the Achilles before the powder blue starts ruling the tank.

Where abouts in SF are you? I grew up there - Sunset District - my parents still live there. Are you a chemical engineer?

Oops. I misread your post and thought you were still living in the sunset dist. I'm across the park in the richmond dist.

Darn, and I hoping to get a glimpse of that AGE tank. I actually tried contacting AGE a couple of times, but didn't get anywhere.

Yup, I'm a chemical engineer. I specialized in biology, so now I'm in the biotech field.

You can't contact AGE. You have to have your LFS do that for you. They won't take direct orders - ever.

I wish I could get into tangs as well, but I don't think that I'll ever have a tank large enough for a nice variety (or atleast that's what my wife keeps telling me).

Just curious, but did you sell everything from your 240gal? Are you starting from scratch or do you have all your corals in a temp tank?

Melev - It might not have been A.G.E. directly, but I was working with someone from Fish Gallery / Aquarium Environments.

Yes, you and my parents are neighbors. Did you grow up in the city, too? Chemical engineer? You must be a bright guy! I went to CAL for undergrad, and my buddy was a chem-E major...that's a tough one! He's an MD now.

Yes, A.G.E doesn't sell direct to the public. I bought mine through Aquarium Concepts in Dublin. You can go through any local LFS - no need to go through Fish Gallery. Tom, from A.G.E, is a busy guy and is sometimes hard to get a hold of.

I sold everything because we were planning on moving. I didn't want to get into a situation where I tried to sell everything after we got into contract with a buyer, only to find out that I couldn't sell prior to close of escrow.

For me, the fun part is setting up anyway! Gave me an excuse

:D

Great set up tbone!

You have almost the exact set up that I will be putting together in the very near future.

I'm considering a A.G.E. Starphire 180 in a peninusla/room divider configuration with the ATI lights like yours and Euroreef skimmer.

I love your Redsea Tang, how big is he? I have a small Pacific Sailfin and he is by far one of the coolest fish in the tank, eats constantly and poops more than all the others combined though. (I gave myself an excuse to upgrade my tank when I brought him home:D )

chwcdw: Thanks! If you go with A.G.E, you'll love it! I do. Great build quality. My last tank was a room divider. I love the look, but had no need for a room divider in our new home.

I also like my Powermodules so far. We'll see how things go once I start adding coral.

Rokdog: Thanks for the kind words. When we were in Australia, we were amazed by the modern architecture! I forget the name, but there was a residential neighborhood where every home was contemporary in design...we were in heaven!

Looks great tbone!! Love the angel!

Thanks Edward! I thought you'd like the angel;) Your tank was inspiring to me in many aspects - from the A.G.E tank itself to the open aquascaping to the angels...Check out my new Bellus! So excited!
