We're pushing up the K in my office tank, which is non-zeo, and I can't say for sure if the corals are coloring up nicer due to the potassium or the Sponge Power, but it's really looking nice. I think anything we can do to replicate NSW levels must be beneficial.

I'm on the ZEO forums a bit (I'm "mojo" over there), and folks in general respond favorably to the current generation of RBS. There is a recent thread about the alkalinity being elevated in a batch of RBS, but there's also contradictory data stating that it's around 7 at 1.026. The Tunze and DD are so new that there's not a lot of discussion as of yet.

Steve, I've been using RBS on the office tank for about 4 months, and on my home tank for about 1 month.

Dang you guys post fast - I barely get time to finish one post and there are already more questions to answer :) .

I use the KZ Potassium test kit, available wherever ZEO products are sold. I haven't tested the office tank water myself so I can't answer that, and I'm currently blending in RBS with the last of my TMP salt, so I can't give you any OOTB (out of the bag) numbers, but I will once I make up a fresh batch. From what I know of the salt, it's supposed to be approximately Ca 420, alk 7, Mg 1310, K 380.

All looks good except the Alk (good for you though). The Tunze looks good out of the bag (but need to test the K).

Terry, they use Kallium test kit made by KZ. The parameter if i remember correctly is around

Ca 420
Mg 1250
Alk 7.5
K+ 380

You are lucky you didn't use it a year ago when the 2nd Generation first arrive in U.S. I first use the Reefer salt which is great but too much testing and measuring due to the salt come in 3 parts (base salt, Mg, Ca and K+) so they come out with the second generation which is 2 part (Base salt and Ca).

I ordered 8 buckets which cost approx $120 each shipped. The first 50g was nothing but nightmare. I had 9.8 pH, 12.5 dkh. If you did a search for Spur2 in Zeovit, you should be able to find all the thread i was talking about the salt.

Well i made 50g out of each bucket to test making sure they are not the same or i just get 1 bad bucket. Guess what? All 8 bucket sitting inside the dumster the very next day and i went back to TMP.

Too many versions of the RB to try it again. I'm using TMPR now but I have tried the HW marine pro reefer and it has been the nicest salt I have used to date but it is not all that available. Wish I could find a dealer,F&S has the HW marine mix but say they will not be carrying the pro reefer anytime soon.

Maybe Tunze??? Po4 readings??

Chad

those Tunze #'s are looking very promising. where is the DD salt available? I think I may buy a batch of their salt when I start my new tank and use the same salt from the beginning.

Tbone, how bout a new FTS, and how do your sohal and sailfin get along?

dont forget the clown tang

so the real question is how are the clown and the sohal getting along?
as long as they stay swimming on the tunze treadmill I bet they are fine.
