187g BB Modern Display

Very nice setup. Very clean! Keep posted on the anthias, I have been eyeing those ones. Good luck with them!

thanks tangers- well they are not as hardy and bold as the bartlett's a bit more dainty and will not eat flake/pellet or anything that is not to their liking yet, but on a bright note I have two bartlett's females in with the qt group and they are all schooling together, and hopefully they are teaching the rest of them how to eat (these guys are pigs, if you've ever been hesitant to try the "finicky anthias" this has been an overgeneralization in the case of lyretail's and bartlett's they are both rough and tumble, but the barlett's eat better)

I have some goodies coming in the mail tomorrow. Don't hate me for going too fast. I couldn't resist such a beautiful specimen and some algae needed eating so I couldn't wait! (best excuse for stocking too fast I've heard yet, even better than it had puppy eyes and wanted to come home with me... it practically jumped in the bag on the way out the door ;) )

I'll have pictures soon.

I haven't bought anthing to clean the front glass until now  and its not a physical tool it's a critter! I probably need my priorities straightened out.

thanks for stopping by... eventually I will clean the glass for the first time. lol. I got the scrapers yesterday :)

Pretty lil Chevy you got there. Looks pretty small...how big is it? You might have already mentioned it, but what type of substrate are you using?

around 2.5" the Scopas is about 4" for reference. I am using a mixed bed of the two larger sizes Tropic Eden, the best substrate I have found yet. Very clean, natural, actually from the south pacific, truly white not brown like caribsea. the size is very similar to seaflor special by caribsea I believe.

Nice tank and progress....They did quality work on tank/stand and cannot wait for it to fill with coral and mature with time....

This looks great!

I didn't read the whole thread so I dont know if its been mentioned, but....towards the begining you mentioned you were going to use SCH80 plumbing throughout. This is fine for bulkheads and fittings, but for the pipe itself I'd use SCH40. You can purchase gray SCH40 so it matches your SCH80. SCH80 pipe has the same O.D. as SCH40, however a smaller I.D. Hence it will not move as much water.

You can still use the SCH80 pipe, just make sure you do all your flow calculations with the smaller I.D> in mind ;).

EDIT: Whoa, I'm waaay behind. I see you already have the tank up and everything. Looks great!

Have you seen CaribSeas Fiji Pink? How does the Tropic Eden substrate compare to that? I looks really good in your tank. I think i will add this to the list of things i must check out for my new tank. How are the anthias doing btw?

tropic eden v. fiji pink.... same size, better quality and color. not gray. not milky dusty.

yeah I changed the plumbing a bit ;)

tropic eden v. caribsea- like octopus v. h&s get the same job done.... but d what a difference!

Will definitely have to check out Tropic Eden then. Thank for taking the time to reply.

I just finished reading through your thread.... very very nice!!!

I know how it is with a thread..... at the beginning it's all good but then when the tank is up already, you start lagging cuss now you have something to look at.

I noticed you now have sand instead of BB, any reasons why??
I started with BB too and then went to sand. my reason is just plain looks.

keep up the great work, and post more updated pics. Your tank looks very nice!

zeo recommended the two inch sandbed and I like the looks of the sand better. I have always ran sand and this time I went with a little coarser grain to stop the Tunze's from blowing it around... yeah right. still a big black spot in the front of the tank!

thanks for checking in and reading through. right now I am having a couple of issues with my young tank therefore i'm trying to stay a little under the radar! there will be pics as soon as it's presentable again.
