I would show a little empathy for the LFS guy. How would he know a clam that looks fine only has a few days left to live? Sometimes the stress and shock of the move can trigger this. This type of thing happens.
As for gaping- I didnt see that. Gaping is usually associated with the shell opening wide, and the mantle withdrawing SEVERLY (below the margin of the shell).
As Mbbuna said, the other crocea LOOKS GOOD.
