1st FOWLR tank

what you can do is take a couple of live rocks out of your display and place them in the qt and that will give it a kick start and allow for instant if not a rapid cycle for the qt.

yeah 72 days is a minimum to make sure that all the ich and most all other parasites are eradicated from the display (except uronema which is a nightmare to deal with). make sure there is no cross contamination from your qt to the display tank and that the qt is at least 10 feet away if not in another room to prevent cross contamination.

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll just drain the 33g QT and fill it with water from the FOWLR tank. And I'll put some live rock from the sump in there.

10 feet? Is that because of possible splashing into the other tanks?

Unfortunately you will probably lose a lot of butterflys , if infected, without treatment.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Think you mis understood, I've got the QT tank I just have to have it in the same room as my other tanks

Isn't the fowlr the infected tank?
I could be confused, sorry about the losses.

If he is going to be treating the qt with copper, hypo or cp, it shouldn't really matter but should NOT use the display water if doing Tank transfer.

I was going to use water from the FOWLR so I don't have to wait for the QT to cycle. I'm going to treat the QT after I put the fish in there. Hopefully I can get the fish out of the FOWLR today so the clock can start for the 72 day waiting period

Sadly, I bet both of your tanks are contaminated.
Don't use the water, filter socks, lr etc in your new qt.
Qt should be bb with some pvc pieces.
The qt period should be min 8-10 weeks.
I would go closer to 80 days.

A bummer, but I would recommend not getting any new fish for a while and getting everything square first, sorry. gl

How would the reef tank be infected? I'm not going to get any new fish until January 1st.

What steps do you recommend while quarantining? I'm still researching the quarantine process.

Did you move corals and fish back and forth, between the tanks?

Are you sure it is ich?

I moved some corals back into the reef tank before I got the MI. I never put a fish from the FOWLR into the Reef. I'm not 100% sure it was ich, but I'm fairly sure it was.

Since I have a cleaner wrasse that I'm going to QT, I was reading that wrasses don't do well with copper. Should I just do a 3-5 min fresh water dip, then run him in hyposalinity for 4 weeks then do prazi pro?
