1 pump connected out of the 2 (6101) and the sand is all over the place with the potentiometer set to minimum. Pump is making some noise, louder than the vortech. Hopefully it's just a matter of breaking in. Seems to shake a lot move around on the mount, especially when it amps up. Sure Grip 100 magnets. Set on Interval 2.

Do I like them where it is...in corner between the overflow and corner of tank....NO. It's not likely to produce the flow across the tank, but sure does beat the hell out of the front corner. All my acan and micro's went flying away.

Do I like them in general? Not yet. They are BIG and I only have 1 in the tank. Maybe they will grow on me.

That's my first impression. So far not my cup of tea.

You definitely want to angle them if your're going to have them on the back of the tank.

If you can't, I would suggest moving them to the sides and slightly point them at the front glass. Run them at 60/30 on interval 2 until things get used to the flow. After your sand settles more and the corals acclimate to the flow you can really crank them up. Also, the noise should go away after they break in.

If you need to call me I can pm you my number.

So after installing the 2nd one to check it out, I noticed that neither of the pumps register 100%. The amp up to 80% and that's it. I have the potentiometer set to full on as well. I tried pulse mode and interval 2. Both reached 80% only.

The one pump makes noise... a type of grinding kinda and the other is silent.

Pull the impellor out of the noisy one and make sure there is no debris in it from production and everything is how it should be. If something looks funny snap a pic for Roger.

When they are new I believe they can sometimes need a break in period before they will go 100%.

The pump making the noise may have a loose bearing bush. It is part 3000.62, push it back in. Is the controller new or used?

If the pumps are set at 100% using the potentiometer it is a controller problem. It is going to 100% but the LED bank has too much resistance, usually in these cases they will go up all the way if the pump is at 24V but doesn't at 15V. Not a big deal we can exchange the controller. Has the noise started to fade?

Thanks Roger. No the noise is still the same. I turned the power down on it and it's less. Is there something else I can check on it to rule out all possibilities?

You could try swapping the entire drive unit from the quiet pump (bearing bush and upper bearing as well) If this solves it I can just send a new drive unit.
