Had a pretty cool experience this weekend - while looking into the tank during candle light amidst the power outage, I found a reflection of the Tiger tail cuke - then I looked closer - it was actually a seperate cuke - obviously, the original fishioned?

Well, I placed the new ( or maybe the old ) cuke into my 20g prison tank and he is as happy as can be!

Cool experience (for my simple mind)

Chris,

it's tough to say as they, well, expand and contract. I have seen the original as long as a foot and a half, stretched out. The two pieces are about 10+ inches each!

The original, several months ago, was about 6 inches long.

Hmm,
where is Dr. Ruth just about now?

The reason I ask is that mine is over a foot long stretched out, but I haven't seen it in about two weeks. I'm worried. But my tank hasn't crashed yet, so I assume all is still well. Maybe he's splitting.

Very cool Rainer. I guess this is fairly common. Matt at Eddies says their little yellow cukes split almost weekly.

Wow,

if he splits again, I can give you a portion for your prop, if you like! Though, it's been months since i have this guy and it's the first time he split - maybe now he has the hang of it :)

Chris,

I am constantly amazed at how well this huge piece of intestin actually can hide in my tank - I always find him, but he/ she/ it gives me a run for my money!

I almost never see mine. I sometimes catch a glimpse of him in the morning just as the actinics kick on then he scurrys away and hides. I know that he is big but never get to see him fully stretched out.

anyone seen or have medusa worms? i have seen them at the lfs i work at and they appear to be excellent sand detrus feeders but im scared to get one as many speak of them being very toxic if pestered by fish or unhappy...any thoughts. they have a nice crown of tenicles that they use to sift through the substrate.

Hey David,

do you/ Paul at Union Aquarium have any long tenticle black sea urchins? I would like to try one in my fuge. Love stopping by your store!

we dont currently have any .............but i will inform paul as he will be able to let me know the availability of this species through his distributers.

Dave,

thank you very much!!!!

It would have to be a Diadema setosum, though ( pretty common long spined black urchin)

Merci

ok thats readily available and will have it ordered monday for tuesday possible. should not be a problem at all.

Two months ago I mentioned that I hadn't seen my Tiger Tail Sea Cuke for a while. At it's longest it was over a foot long. I was worried it had died, but was encouraged by Rainer's thread post.

About a week ago, while poking around the send bed, I found a three inch cuke. To avoid confusion, I moved it to another tank, hoping I'd see another piece.

Tonight, I saw the main part of my sea cuke for the first time in over two months. Weird thing is that it's about 8 - 10 inches long. Although I had hoped it was splitting, I never considered that it would split unevenly.
