2.5gallon tank with built in overflow

I bought all livestock locally. The black acrylic would have been nicer, but i figured the star polyps would eventually cover it anyways.

what kind of filter? You mod the filter? what is the media you are using? would making a canopy be too big of a pain you think?
Sorry for all the questions but....
looks sweet, and i now think i am going to do it. Not quite the painful investment as a 225G :)

OH!

OH!

And how long does it take for the silicone to dry bond the acrylic your tank...i currently have a 20L running and want to add an overflow to it when i move the tank...but i dont want the tank to be down too long. Any ideas?

thanks!

Sweet tank!Ive got a 7.5 gallon and a whisper just sitting around.Been thinking about setting it up,now I think I will.I can hear it now "Not ANOTHER tank!!!!!" To which my response will quickly be "But honey its only seven and a half gallons, how much could i possibly put in it?"

Oh my GOD!!! I just read this and have just moded 3 of my tanks in my head. I am going to try and build one for my 10 gallon that I am stripping down right now (big opps with that tank), I am using a Empire 280 as an external refugium and this system would work perfectly. Then I am going to try and rig one up for my existing 33 gallon. Will probably us acrylic for the overflow and try to figure out what to attach it to the glass side while under water??? Anybody have thoughts on this? Doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t need to be water tight but I just want to force most of the water over the top of the over flow. Any thoughts on this?

The filter is a whisper 10, no modification. The media i used is th filter and charcoal that it came with. Canopy would be pretty easy, but beware of heat issues when covering it. I have to run a fan over the top during the summer. You can use silicon to patch holes under water and it will dry. I just not sure if it is toxic while it dries.
