2.8 pico with overflow DIY

Thanks guys.
I will get my medical grade dosing pump next week and keep the upgrades coming. I figure it is all I can hide in my apartment so why not add some nice accessories and really enjoy it. So far it has been a lot of fun.

Got the doser in the mail and should set it up soon. It will be a good idea to be home all day to try and get the drip rate as best I can.

The pump makes a little noise, but I will be able to tuck it away under my desk where I cant hear it.

hey anymore updates??? I was wondering how you drilled the teeth for the overflow. Any other ideas besides using a router if that's how you went? Great tank. Very cute! =)

what did you use for the TT fans, im gonna build a custom hood and wanter like 92mm or 80mm TT fans on it, but im unsure how to supply them /w power.

if you could share yur tricks ill be on my way! :D and btw, very cool thread, ill refer to it when i start a pico!

I intend on the overflow doubling as a surface skimmer (very important especially for a pico) and a refugium.

Thanks

Probably a stupid question, but why is this very important? I have a 15 nano and I'm debating doing the same thing except just using my filter as the intake. What will this accomplish for me? Sorry I probably sound naive but I'm new at this and everything i read just says they're good but never says why. Thanks

Surface skimming prevents oil and organic buildup from forming on the surface of the water. with the surface skimmer all the water will overflow onto a filter pad or some carbon.

Same question...I suppose I could just get a cheap computer PSU and wire them into that, but there's gotta be an easier way.

most power supplys from cpus require a motherboard to turn the fan on or the fans would run all the time. i havent tried yet but you might be able to get a 12v power adaptor to power the fans

You could drill some 1/8" holes in the overflow wall and feed zip ties in from the back with a dab of silicone. Use the protruding zip ties to help build the rock wall.
