2 Chromis and Wrasse missing?!

So I ordered a bunch of fish for my 120 from Vivid Aquariums. I got 4 blue/green chromis, tailspot Blenny, and melanarus wrasse. The next few days everything looked great in the tank. Blenny never found yet, but was very stressed upon arrival. So anyways, it's about a week later now and 2 Chromis have gone missing and the wrasse is either dead or in the sand.. I have a cleaner shrimp in the tank and the only other fish before them were 2 clowns and a goby. Looked everywhere including the floor and overflows and found no sign of them. The remaining 2 Chromis and other fish look completely normal and water parameters are on point. The chromis and Wrasse ate well before this happened. Didn't change anything besides a filter sock. Anyone have a clue what went wrong or what they think?? :furious:

Wrasse is more than likely buried in the sand... mine went awol for 9 days straight... eventually showed up happy. Not sure on the chromis tho... probably goners..

I've had many of chromis disappear in a 55 figure they died behind or in the rocks and hermits or Bristle worms ate them cause I never found them

Wrasse is more than likely buried in the sand... mine went awol for 9 days straight... eventually showed up happy. Not sure on the chromis tho... probably goners..

Today one of my clowns are missing... I literally only have a handful of snails and like 2 blue legged hermits. I have a tiny pistol shrimp paired with my goby and a cleaner shrimp. I am positive I don't have any big hitchhiker crab because i set my tank up with 100% dry rock and its only 3 months old. So confused on why I can't find them alive, or their remains.

Certainly possible the Hoeven's wrasse is in the sand; though unlike leopards, for example, they don't usually stay buried for long. You'd be surprised how quickly a small fish carcass will be reduced to nothing. I don't buy green chromis anymore, and if I did I'd make sure to QT them. They're commonly carriers of uronema, something you really don't want in your tank. Not much to do at this point tha just wait it out.

How many days?
They do need time to adjust to your lighting schedule etc if he is a new addition to the tank. He will come out when he is ready and comfortable. Stirring the sand would just stress it out more.... I have 2 wrasses in my tank, Christmas and a silver belly... Christmas stayed buried for 9 days when I first put him in and later when I added the silver belly the Christmas harassed him abit... the silver then buried himself for about 6 days... came out when he was ready and they get along fine now.
I personally wouldn't stir the sand just yet... but see what other people think too, other people have reported wrasses being buried alot longer than my 9 days.

4 days now.. still no signs of any of the dead fish. All of the living ones are acting completely normal and are eating. Just did a 10 gallon water change.

Forgot to mention, the wrasse was out for 5 days before he went missing

I'd wait it out in the wrasse...

Someone else posted an earlier message that a dead fish can be devoured pretty quickly by even a modest clean up crew... I had a damsel dissappear.. granted he was abit of a douche towards his tanks mates so I wasn't too sad to not find him... not a trace of him.

If your wrasse was out for 5 days and has now gone missing for 4 - probably not a good prognosis. Never go digging for them though.

Of course, not surprised about the blue greens, that's what they do.

I'm not going to mention the importance of quarantine, but they are probably hiding, adjusting to their new environment or they could have died due to stress of the move or could have been sick and died.
