2 clowns in 10g?

I got a pair of False Percs, that i want to put in 10g. I think they should be fine.

i have always heard 5 gal for ever inch of fish (maximum size)
occ. clowns get up to 3", so 1 would be pushing it, i wouldnt do 2

plenty of breeders keep them in 10g tanks , but those tanks are almost always connected to a central system with a much higher actual water volume.

So yes you can keep them in a 10g tank, but I would not keep them in a 10 gallon system.

Well 10g of just water from a bigger, established tank, is pretty different than a 10g tank with sand, LR, etc.

That likely cuts you down to about 6-7g of actual water volume, and not a whole lot of room to roam.

Disregarding the water quality concerns, my clowns (tomato & pink skunk) RARELY explore outside of a 15"x18" footprint around there favorite spots. I'm planning a Black Onyx or Perc pair in a JBJ 12gallon in the hear future and will do a 1 gallon/day WC with the Reef tank daily WC. That's a similar footprint to a JBJ 12DX and would allow ~8% daily WC. I say give it a try, but be prepared to move them to a larger tank if need be.

Yes you can do not listen to Ifish

Yeah, I give bad advice. Don't ever listen to me. ;)

I agree with Arati, my breeding clowns are in 10 gal tanks plumbed into a main system & I have no problems. Even ifs it's a tank by itself, just keep up on the water quality.

I wouldnt water quality 1 factor but if your willing to do the work and a tank change when bigger give it a shot theres something to be learned from everything

I have true perc adult pair in a 12G CAD + 2 RBTA.
I have a onyx perc pair (small juv) in a 5G tank with a HOB rated for 20G.

I think it is ok. I change out 20% of water each week.

I think unless you're breeding, a minimum tank size is 15. But your probably not going to take my advice, but thought I'd offer it.

Keeping fish in small tanks, or overstocking can be done if you take the right precautions/care and use right equipment/filtration, but keep in mind it also adds stress, and makes them more vulnerable to disease and such.
Also it takes very little to have param swing.
Personally I wouldn't do it long term.
A breeder situation is a very diff story.

i had 2 in a ten gallon for over a year..they were percs..and they did great, clownfish usually stick to certain areas in big tanks anyway...-drew

I have three pairs, each in their own ten gal. with clay pots (which they seem to love). All are tied into my reef so water quality is not an issue. All seem to be doing quite well except, no eggs, yet... This has been set up for about 6 months. Clowns dont seem to travel much, specifically if they host something. I have a pair in my reef, and they are either hosting the kenya tree, or gsp. Two anemones in there too, go figure. Perhaps the addition of a host would make them more comfortable.
Just my 2c.
