2 Dumb MH questions

1. Can MH ballasts run Mogul and HQI bulbs?

2. Does it really matter if you get a Mogul over and HQI?

If you want the option of running one or the other, go with an electronic ballast, they'll fire and drive both. I'm pretty sure a magnetic ballast is only designed for single ended (SE) bulbs. As a general rule, HQI bulbs tend to put out more PAR per watt than an SE bulb. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the matter will chime in and agree or tell me I'm an idiot.
