These are excellent for spotlighting certain corals, or allowing one to keep a coral that requires a great deal of light without running a lighting fixture over the entire tank...

Steve, is it just the lamps or the fixtures as well? I want to get better lighting on my daughter's nano.

Kat, there's really no fixture involved whatsoever. These lamps screw into normal sized light sockets--just like a regular lightbulb. So you can wire up a socket for like $2 or you could purchase a "clamp-on cheapo shop light" for like $5 at Home Depot. But this light would be way too intense for a nano tank. I'm growing SPS in my 120 with it... I'm about 85% sure that these lamps or variants of them will replace all fluorescent and MH lighting within the next few years. I'm selling them because I want to get a few that have all blue LED's...

there are people that seem to use them over nanos with good results but you might have to raise the light up higher than you'd like. they put out a lot of PAR.

steve, how many of these are you running over your 120?

That's right--my only source of lighting. My Red Planet is growing like crazy, and Todd's absolutely loves them. I'm running 8 on my 120g.
