my tank is 6ft long and i'm thinking of adding a group of A. nigripes and a group of ocellaris; each group will be about 6 fish.

bad idea? i'll have a lot of nems to go around.

anyone have long term success w/groups?

just wanted to get some opinions.

I know this doesn't count as a group, but I have one pair of nigripes and one pair of ocellaris in my 92g for almost 2 years. The nigripes live in the anemone and the ocellaris stay by the seio pump on the other side of the tank. The nigripes are extremely aggressive toward my ocellaris. Over time they have stopped bothering my ocellaris clowns. The things you have working in your favor are the anemones and the length of the tank. The negative is how aggressive the nigripes can behave.

I tried two species in my 8 feet, 400 g tank and It did not go too well. I would not try to do that again either.

hmmmm....what about a group of 6-8 nigripes or ocellaris?
or do you think a pair will kill the others off?

I have two species that are small and most docile and it did not work out. Pink Skunk and Ocellaris. I even have several Magnifica on opposite side of the tank (three clones of my H. magnifica)
I have never keep Nigripes.
I have keep 3 Ocellaris together (spawned) and keeping three Percula together (not yet breeding) in a 24 g tank at this time with my S. haddoni. I was not able to keep a group of clowns more than 3 together long term.

well, it was either nigripes or pink skunks....i thought their temperaments would be similar but i guess not.

the rule is 1 pair for 100 gallons
IME, there is no rule.

fwiw: I have a breeding pair of Nigripes and a breeding pair of Ocellaris in my 300gal, it is not big enough for the Nigripes. There are so many anemones it is scary, and yet Cujo the female nigripes is forever camping the anemone the pair of ocellaris are in.

I would not risk it and I will be moving the fish into private quarters shortly.
