My tank is down to 57F fish are dead, snails are dead, 1 hermit is still kickin. Acropora is not bleached either 1 colony and 1 frag. Power is expected to be out till friday. Will my tank have to recycle? and how much time should I take in re-heating to 78F? My SPS are the only things left that might make it. Will I have any issues with the live rock as well? Any help would help!!
thanks

If your water is that cold and you still have several days left, I wouldn't expect much at all to make it. Once you get power again, I figure you will have some die-off on the rock so I would expect another cycle.

Sorry to hear about this, I would be devastated.

Yea, it's pretty ugly. 70mile hr winds took alot of power lines. I'm gonna get a generator I think, So this can't happen again. Next time I might not be as fortunate with more corals and so forth. Should I continue my lighting cycle 10hrs? Or should I tone it down with the new cycle?
thanks again.

That sounds like a painful situation!

I don't think the lights will make much difference over the long haul. I'd get plenty of water for changes.

Do you know of any place that you could take your Corals? Friends tank, LFS, or something. Even if you just get fish credit, better than a total loss.

I talked to my LFS and they cant help. I have a nice blue tip colony that i would really like to bring back if possible. And I don't know of anyone else in my hobby right now locally. I've been checking on craigslist fot the generators as well.. I do have my RO/DI can filled and ready to go. SPS is still colored up so I still have some hope. Thanks for the input!!!

Don't know if this is possible, but do you have a way to heat water? Wood stove, propane stove (used outside) etc. You could try filling gallon water bottles with hot water, capping them tight, and putting them in your tank, then covering the tank real well with blankets to hold some heat in, maybe this would keep the water temp high enough to save the coral. I have no idea about how often you'd have to switch out the water bottles. I have not used this method, but someone on this list a few months ago managed to save some of his tank by doing it.
