2 MP10 enough for a 75?

I own 1 MP10 in my 29. As the 75 gets ready for the transfer, I had hoped to move it, get a second, and link them. My tank has an angled front, so I would put them on the back wall, pointed straight forward. This should move the water back at the middle.
Question: am I better off selling the MP10 I currently have and go for 1, or even 2, MP40?

if you have the money then get 2 40s but really that mp10 moves a lot of water. wait a see how it does in the 75 u will be shocked. i would just buy 1 mp40 and see how you doing with thsoe two and as you coral grows and you need for more flow goes up then sell the mp10 and get your other 40. the value of that 10 now and in one year probably wont change much thats whats nice about those pumps they hold value.

Mp10's will give you plenty of flow at full speed but Mp40's will give you wider more dispersed flow running at a lower speed and extending pump life.

I currently run 2 40's on my 40breeder. It seems like overkill but not running the pumps full speed and having the option to upgrade tanks and not need new pumps is also nice.

i actually had 2 mp10s on my 90 gal for a while. and with my minimal rock aquascape they were impressive really i could believe it. but i totally agree running those pumps at full speed will reduce the life of the pump. so i would do 2 mp40 if needed. but give the one mp10 and 1 mp40 a try first. thats a lot of flow especially if you get a good return pump. i mean 2 mp40s thats 1000$ in flow. wait til you need that much. run the mp10 and the mp40 together. put the mp 10 on the side that your return is on and the mp40 on the other. also they will wireless link together too.

what kind of aquascape are you gonna do?

I'm a week and a half into the cycle.

I completed the Herbie overflow/return this weekend and am using a Quiet One Pro 5000 for the return. That's a fair amount, so my plan is to put the MP10 on the opposite side for now. Then get a CUC in a month or so when the levels drop. Then add the lights and transfer what few corals I have, hopefully over the holidays. From there I can consider the next step in flow.

Are you sure I can link a 40 and a 10 in a Master/Slave setup for the wave-maker function?

Nice set up you have! You can link any combination of Vortech wireless pumps, it doesn't matter if they are 10's or 40's.

I run 2 MP10s in my 75(rectangle). They are supplemented with two Koralia Evolutions on my Controller, but just to supplement. Bearing life at 100% is the real concern, but if the bearing go spend 13.00, get some sealed bearings and replace. Takes all of 10 minutes and the bearings you replace will be better than stock anyway.
