Wondering if I can get some advise....I keep hearing that If I put (2) pairs of clowns in the same tank that they will fight to the death.....If this is true, why when I go to fish stores, do they have a boatload of clowns in the same tank???

While it sometimes happens in the wild I would not attempt this in a home aquarium that is less than 6ft...even that's questionable.
Fish store comparison is flawed because clownfish don't stay there too long and don't have the time to establish territories.

This question seems to be coming up quite a bit, lately. I had 4 pair, in my 125.

You HAD 4 pair together...& how long did that last after a pair started spawning? :deadhorse:

OP, DON'T DO IT!! For every hobbyist claiming success w/ multiple pairs long term (2 yrs or more), there's at least 15 or 20 posts by folks that experienced the bloodbath. It can happen quickly & won't be pretty.

I have a pr of ocellaris with a pr of orange skunks in a 5ft, they alternate laying eggs, 1 pr 1 week, the other pr another week. They are also only about 3 ft away from each other. They dont pay any mind to each other. The ocellaris have been spawning for 9 months and the orange skunks for 6.

In another tank, a 54 corner, I have a spawning pr of black ocellaris that tolerate a par of perculas. Both host on the left side of the tank, no issues.

I find sticking with the peaceful species, such as ocellaris, percula, sandacino and the like and getting them as small as possible works just fine.
