2 Part Recipe / Big Mistake

Rich, I agree with you 100% on the driveway heat and such--but I would be willing to bet the amount of impurities allowed into the making of any reef product and the amount allowed in food grade products are much different. And don't get me wrong, I never had a problem with any of B-ionic's stuff, it is a great product! But I think the only regulations they have to follow in production are set by themselves--as there is no laws that police chemicals made in the reef industry.

Rich I agree, but the same can be said for numerous other prodcuts on the market. I'd love to see some tests on kent and coralife supplements and their salts as well.... Not to single them out, I could go on :)

I wouldnt use driveway heat. But I do use pickeling lime....but calcium hydroxide in solution is a different animal...

Hey Pat, You're not with Lombard auto parts are you?
Used to do a lot of business with them, Richie was the owner back then.

Nope, I'm with a yard in Chicago, Bionic Auto, but drive by Lombard auto everyday on my way into work. Richie's kid's run the place now, and not as well as the old man did back then.

Just an update, the tank is fine. I think I just overdid it with the Ca addition. Alk was fine at a little under 3.2 meq/L and Ca was up to 500 ppm. I'll just let the Ca drop naturaly and continue with adding Alk.

Well I finally got the mag kit and found out what my problem was--my MG was over 1500, I'm guessing upwards of 1600 at least. I followed the 2 part directions blindly and added the gallon of MG supplement, considering I've already gone through 3 gallons of each CA and Alk. So lesson learned-test your MG before adding the 3rd part of Randy's DIY! I would have, too bad the Red Sea kit I was using while salifert was on national B/O was garbage. High MG causes tip burn in SPS's!

Sully-the wrecking business is good, scrap prices are high due to the war and the state farm class action suit from the use of aftermarket garbage keeps us selling strong.
