2 petco Gigs

I am sorry also. You are not the first one nor the last one who mis-ID Atlantic Carpet. I guess you can always take them back.

I just came back from my local Petco that I never go to in the corner of my house and the 1st thing I see is this anemone. I was told they just received it a few hours ago and it looks like a Gigantea but then again that's wishful thinking like the last time...lol

What do you guys think it is?

If the color is somewhat accurate, I'd say it's a gig.

The color is 100% accurate. It doesn't look to good but for $22.50 I'll take my chances. It's about 12"

Lol. Thank you. I'm putting a chair and a small fridge with some alchoholic beverages right next to the tank...lol

The chances are slim because of the condition it's in but you never know.

I think it would be great if someone was bored enough to compile a list of the clown hosting nems ID guide so that we could sticky. Kinda like what to look for in ID'ing them such as certain feature on each nem. I would but I'm not experienced enough with nems.

That's good news coming from you guys.

I put a 21w Par38 led bulb over it today and it responded pretty good to the light so tomorrow I will put a 150w pendant over it to see how it does. I will be shocked if it survives to be honest. I've seen some here look 100× better and don't make it. This one even has a few rips on the side to make things worse . We will soon find out though. I'll add a picture in a few minutes to show you how it looks after the light have been off for 2 hours

It closes the mouth very fast when I turn on the lights

You be surprise. As long as the bacterial response to antibiotic and as long as the anemone not servery damage, they will bounce back.

+1. This one definitely has the potential to make it. Sending good vibes your way...

Thanks guys. I hope you guys are right. I will take some pics in the morning before lights turn on and after lights have been on for a few hours. Thanks

It was fully deflated with the mouth open this morning for the first time. It might be letting out the last of the crap inside or it might have started the deflating/inflating cycles :(

I did a 50% water change and placed a 150w halide over it and I'm hoping it looks better when I get home at 9am. Pics to come

Add med when you change water. Try to do it right before the might cycle since the med degraded with light. However, it you change during the day then add med then also. It is likely that have too high med dose probably won't harm the anemone, but I don't know for sure. Other reefer have dipped them with much higher dose than we use without apparent harm, at least from the one that posted.

Ok will do. I will do 100% water change now and add Cipro. I will turn off the lights for today and give it a full cipro day. Lights will go back in tomorrow as it didn't respond to the light in a positive way today. Here's a pic of it after it fully deflated
