2 ?'s for you

1. Can clams be iodine dipped to remove parasites? or will this kill the clam. For example, using products like SeaChem ReefDip or Kent Iodine.

2. What markings exactly distinguish a clam as Ultra, First Grade etc. I know I could probably find this using the search function, but as we all know, it is temporarily unavailable.

Picture differences would be appreciate!

Thanks for your help.

1. i would stay away from iodine dipping clams. what parasite are you trying to get rid of?

2. the grades of clams referrs to the colors and vibrancy of the mantles.the more colorful the higher the grade. the grades are also very subjective.

I have also been reading clams can be freshwater dipped? It should only take 5 seconds to kill the parasites I'm wanting to kill.

I don't clams really have parasites attach to them. Are you trying to kill off some snails or worms on the shell?

You do a freshwater dip for a bacterial infection, but it should be fine without any interference.

i wouldn't stress the clam just to get rid of them. just inspect the shell and brush it well with a toothbrush, or place the clam in a properly lit QT for a few weeks.
