2 spawnings, same day, same tank

I just thought this was kind of cool.

I have a pair of percs that spawn regularly on one side of a 60 gal, 48" tank and a pair of orange skunks that spawn on the other side once in a while. Both have had eggs at the same time before, but today, the skunks (who had been taking a break) laid eggs at the same time as the percs. The percs nest is a little bigger that a golf ball. The skunks nest is only about the size of a dime.

The percs hang out in a purple H. crispa and a new turquoise gigantea. The skunks hang out mostly in a purple based H. magnifica.

if you find some time, post some recent pictures of your display phil!

Yer killin' me Smalls

turquoise gigantea?

can you snap pics?

that is cool that you have 2 pairs spawning so close to each other

Phil,
That's awsome!
You know you can't get away with a statement like that around here without posting pics! :)

Here is a picture of the new gigantea. I told myself I was done with them, but this one was too good to pass up in health, color and price.
I'll take some tank pics tomorrow. I have changed the lights from 10K to 14K since this pic so the anemone will look more blue in future pics. But this is the real color. It has relaxed a bit since this pic and is now about 10" across.

Here are pics of the overall tank and the individual pairs. Please keep in mind that this is not intended to be a display tank and there is some algae and big aptasia that I haven't had a chance to juice. It contains coral that either lost their spot in my "living room tank" because I found another coral that I "had to have" or they were too aggressive.

Full shot of the tank. Lighting is a Aquaspace light w/2-150 watt 14k Phoenix bulbs.

Right side of tank w/ H. magnifica and orange skunks. The mag was a little bigger a couple months ago, but is just now fully recovered from a powerhead encounter. There is a little H. crispa on the sand that I thought I was going to lose, but seems to be making a comeback. It was used by the skunks while the mag was healing behind the rocks. The eggs are just below the female's nose on the little pinnacle of rock.

Left side of the tank with the Perc pair. They spend most of their time in the purple H. crispa. The eggs are the brown mass just above the male's 2nd dorsal. I've only had the gigantea for about 2 weeks and although both percs visit it quite often, the crispa is closer to their eggs, and that's where they spend most of their time, especially the male.

It seems that most of the "experts" recommend against multiple species of anemones in the same tank. I know you have alot of experience with anemones, do you think the concerns about allelopathy are exaggerated?

Thanks for sharing those Phil.
Were your pairs matched by you or were they bought as mated pairs?
