20¢ Korallin Fitting Needed to avoid $40 replacement

I have lost the plastic compression fitting that attaches the CO2 input line to the inlet assembly on top of the Korallin calcium reactor. Does anybody have an old Korallin reactor top lying around that I could scavange a fitting from?

The thread is Metric 10 x 1.0. All I need is the nut that swallows the threaded nipple that looks up from the top of the reactor !! This probably is a 20 cent piece but if I cannot find one, I will have to purchase an entire inlet assembly for $40 just to replace the one nut !!

Thanks !!

That should be a standard size compression fitting. Have you looked at ace hardware or anywhere local? You may have to buy a $2 valve or something to get the nut, but that's better than $40. You might find one at the place you get the bottle filled at, and if not they should know where to get one at.

Look in the hardware section at the "water stops" for toilets. It is the supply valve. I think the smaller nut on that valve is the same

only if that stopper was made in europe......gotta love the metric system

im sure you could find the right metric nut but might be a mail order item...at least you know the size! thats a good start

Thanks all !!

I have checked a number of the local hardware stores but they don't carry metric, and I have not been able to find the nut on-line. However, I did not think to look for the nut already attached to a different valve (thanks ReefeerRyan !!) and will make the rounds today to see if I can find one.

Thanks for your suggestions.

try typing in metric nuts in the search...

have you asked Korallin if they can just send you the nut?

charlie

they certainly do have a great website but their metric nuts all are steel.

I actually sent an email to korallin last night and hope to hear from them sometime this week.

Thanks for all your ideas!

On the bottom of the parts page on Marine depot, it says to call for help on anything you need for the Koraline reactor. They may be able to send just the nut you need if you give them a call.

If you have any questions about the Replacement Korallin C-1502/3002 Inlet Assembly with Bubble Counter (Einlauf) or other Aquarium Supplies, please call us at 1-714-385-0080 or e-mail us at customercare@marinedepot.com.

Thanks Dugg !

Marine Depot says (in essence) "send me $40 to buy the entire inlet assembly ... we don't sell just the nut"

Did you check in the specialty isle at Lowe's or Home Depot? They have drawers of different stuff in metric as opposed to rows of standard. You also might call Locke Supply and see if they carry any metric items. You might also try taping it with thread tape a whole bunch and use a standard nut and see if that'll hold.
