20 gallon long build

really nice rock work... definitely shim the stand up. dont feel bad bud, atleast the floor is your problem. my carpentry skills suck so the first stand i built and wasted about 20 hours on was not level on the back right side. if i filled my tank up on it would have twisted the tank and blew it out. 3 sides of the stand were level but the back right was about 1/4" low. i just built a new one though and got lucky :)

Nice rockwork! This is what I did with my 20 long:

Partitioned off 6 inches and made a built-in sump/fuge. Center area will be the fuge.

With test water in it:

Its being used as a hospital tank right now, but works great! Good luck with yours and keep us posted with lots of pics!

The water is really starting to clear up today, I think that I am going to stop and get some ammonia to put in on the way home from work, then not touch the tank for the next 2 weeks aside from topping off water.

Reefchaser, I assume that the baffles are made of glass. That looks really sweet on a little tank. Was everything cut square at the bottom? Or did you have it rounded a little to compensate cor the silicone on the tank.

just took the params, its still cycling,

Ammonia- 1ppm
PH- 7.8-8.0 dont remember
Nitrite-1
Nitrate-10

some pics, i will take more tonight the lighting is really hard right now.

I have a 20 long BB with live rock for my QT. I run a back filter, light and heater. I put chaeto in it also. Runs great. I keep anything I buy for my display in it for a month first. I think it is as fun as my DT.

thanks anemone, crush that sounds good. i personally love the rockwork that i did and i am really happy that i can see it from all sides.

i want one more fish in here, the clowns kinda hang out on one side and i would really like an active swimmer to add in 4-6 weeks. what would you suggest?

Had a casualty, my female picasso aparantly got in a fight with the male and did not want to live with him anymore so she thought the carpet looked like a better place.

Bummer, the tank is looking good though. Regarding a skimmer, will you be adding a sump? If not there are some hang on back systems that would serve a 20g fairly well. What is your plans for inverts?

:( That's a tough loss. You've got a nice start to that tank. I have always like the 20L tanks.

my heart literally sank and i felt really sad when i found her, on the upside the male is now swimming a lot more and exploring the tank, i am thinking about getting a small one this weekend.
